This book just arrived in the mail today and I immediately ripped the envelope so I can look through it. Granted, I've just thumbed through the book, but already I've seen LOTS of techniques and tutorials that I can't WAIT to try when I scrapbook. I love that the book is bound in a way that allows you to lay it flat without having to figure out a way to flatten it while you are working (or, worse yet, damaging the spine, forcing it to lay flat). The photographs are gorgeous and has lots of detail. I also love that the last page of the book is a lined page that allows you to jot down your own notes in the book. I will definitely be using this book over and over again!!
Once again, I have to bring up my 11 year-old daughter in this review. She's become quite an artist for her age and loves to draw horses since she rides. SO.... I bought her this book in hopes that it would inspire her love for art. She opened the book and screamed "Mom! LOOK at these drawings. Are you kidding me? They are drawn by amazing artists. I can never draw like these people!" Well, there went my "inspire my 11 year old" idea. The horse on the cover is not like any of the finished drawings in the book. The illustrators also beautifully color them as well. Honestly, this book would be great for ADULT artists who are well on their way to Walt Disney Studios.
This is book is a "MUST HAVE" for anyone who loves Tim Holtz and the wonderful techniques he uses. This tells you, with pictures too, just how to accomplish them in SIX easy steps. Can't beat that.
I already have a couple of Allison's sketch books and wanted to add to my library. For anyone who scrapbooks, these are a wonderful tool. They help to give my pages a jump start and I really like that they are designed for two page layouts. She offers lots of options, too, depending on the size of your photos.
