I don't know how much I am going to use this, but I am glad I brought this at the price. The instructions are clear and everything for the beginner is included.

  • Bobbin Lace Kit

I have been making bobbin lace for 25 years and teaching for more than 15 years. I have this kit and do not recommend it to anyone. The instructions were impossible to understand and my cardboard stand broke when I tried to set it up. The foam is too thin. The bobbins are okay to use, but a bit long. You are better off making your own kit by purchasing the package of Lacis bobbins for sale on this site and getting a 1" piece of foam, covering it with felt and fabric, and purchasing a beginning bobbin lace book or finding a teacher in your area.

The kits are designated to go to a foreign country to introduce the art there. Thus it was important to have a good description of the beginnings. Also the enclosed description with an actual example are very useful as training materials not only for one person but for more as they show interest. This is a group of natives that are very dexterous and will take to this rapidly as previous tests have shown. This kit is perfect for beginnners and quite affordable for this application.

I am using this kit to teach beginners how to make bobbin lace. I was disappointed about the thinness of the "pillow" and the lack of a covering.

  • Avoid!!

As a master lacemaker, let me tell you that this kit is known as the "kit from hell" in the industry. I looked at one to see how it was put together. *I* could not figure out thier directions and I know what I am doing!! The Pillow is really cheap and will not hold up for more than 2-3 projects. The "stand" is a piece of folded cardboard that didn't hold the pillow for 15 minutes before it fell apart. The bobbins are pretty good however. That is the only possitive thing that I can say about it. This kit pretty much will make you hate lacemaking with is really very fun and easy to do.

  • Great for a beginner....
    Verified Purchase

This product has everything for a beginner however the instructions are not clear enough. I ended up buying a beginners course book. If you try to buy all of these materials separately it would be a lot more expensive so this kit is worth every penny.
