i just got this yesterday, ordered here at overstock, and so far it's good, checking on the authenticity, well looks original and good so far, frame and glasses are great, and with the original casing was nice too, based on the inside of the case including the cloth and the booklet are there. so far its GOOD! fits well ( the only thing that is missing is that, on the right side of the frame "MADE IN ITALY" is not there) other than that ..its GOOD! and most of all, what OVERSTOCK gave me a good deal with their discounted price, it really gave a good price on the RAYBAN.
my only complaint is that the site says the product is made in italy, when in reality the product you receive is made in china. however, this is probably because ray ban no longer produces club masters in italy. if you're looking for the made in italy ones specifically, like i was, then don't buy it (i, on the other hand, have given up trying to find club masters made in italy). Overally i'm very happy with my purchase. it fits wonderfully and i've receive so many compliments for it. the colors are exactly as shown in the picture!
Two things about me -- I am paranoid about getting ripped off and I am hesitant buying any higher end apparel from a second party online. Without holding them in my hands and examining them thoroughly for signs of authenticity, I feel like I'm gambling with my money. However, considering my great past experiences with Overstock, I felt like it was worth a shot. With one of the site's many 15% off coupons in my cart, I pressed "Purchase Item." Fast forward to a couple of days later. I held my breath when I opened the package. "Okay, the Ray-Bans box looks legit," I thought, "Let's see what's inside." I laid out the contents of the package on my kitchen counter, all the while watching a video about determining whether your Ray-Ban Clubmasters are fakes or the real deal. Brown leather case -- check. Mini Ray-Bans catalogue -- check. Ray-Bans cleaning cloth -- check. I held the Clubmasters. Heavy, well made, and absolutely gorgeous. Then my eyes immediately focused on the "Made in China" insignia on the inside of the frame. "Made in China?" My two previous pairs of Ray-Ban have "Made in Italy" birthmarks. My heart sank and I was prepared to send back the glasses with an angry review. Then I referred back to the video. Luxottica, the manufacturer of Ray-Bans, has factories in Italy and China. While many Ray-Bans are still made at the Italian factory, some of the more popular frames are assembled in China. Most importantly, majority of Clubmasters are manufactured at the Chinese factory. I began looking for the telltale signs of authentic Ray-Bans, and I found every single one. Laser cut RBs in the lenses, RBs on the nose plates, product numbers on the bridge, and Ray-Ban insignia on the front corner and on the inside of the temple, and product name and numbers on the opposing temple. Going a step further, I took the Ray-Bans to a Ray-Bans retailer and compared them to a display pair -- Exactly the same frame. Only difference was their price, which was at least 50 dollars. I can say with absolute percent certainty that these Clubmasters are the real deal. Oh, and the look and fit? Combine early 1960s class with modern cool, and you have the Clubmaster. They make anyone look great.
I've owned a similar style pair of Ray Ban sunglasses that have lasted for over 10 years and was looking for a new replacement. I'm hard on glasses, so I was shocked how well the Ray Bans held up over the years. I read about some quality concerns when Ray Ban moved most of its production from Italy to China. My new Sunglasses (made in China) look great and the quality of frame and lenses look identical to the older pair made in Italy. The lenses are the perfect darkness and tint for both bright and cloudy days. I went with the polarized version since I do a lot of fishing and the polarization really helps cut down the glare and allows me to see into the water. While I've only had these sunglasses for a little over a week, thus far, I'm very pleased! In shopping for Ray Ban glasses on the Web, I noticed there are a lot "so-called Ray Bans" knock- offs on the Web at a very low cost. This is a case of buyer beware;only purchase from a reputable and Ray Ban authorized company - like Overstock.
