While looking to start my almost two and a half year old's dress up closet, I was really pleased to see a nice selection of costumes on Overstock.com. This dress caught my eye because of how fancy it was and the price was decent. After looking through all of the costumes, I came back to this one. The shipping was really fast and I was really excited when it was delivered. The blue was not what I expected. It looks almost turquoise on the website but in reality it is more of a royal blue. Still the color is very nice. The sheer trim at the neckline and on the sleeves is blue on my dress instead of white as pictured. The gold trim is not quite what it looks like in the picture but overall it is a highly detailed dress and very cute. My only disappointment about the dress is that although it came with a hoop for the skirt, I could not figure out how it was meant to be attached. There was nothing about the dress that suggested it was meant for attaching the hoop. Finally I just hot glued it to the under skirt which takes away the removability of the hoop but at least it poofs out as shown. I think if I take time to carefully steam the wrinkles out, it will look amazing on my daughter. There are other cute costumes on Overstock.com. I don't think I'll hesitate buying a few more.
Disappointed that it didn't come with the hoop for the skirt but happy that it has the pink velour sections, back zipper and the elastic waist. It's a bit long but it would have been perfect for my size 5 child if it had a hoop. Better quality than most of the bagged costumes purchased at halloween. Unless she climbs a fence and rips it, it should last through these next 7 months of play until Trick or Treat.
This is such a complete police uniform! If your son or daughter wants to look like an authentic public servant, this is the costume to get. It is lacking a weapon, but Little Boy swiped his sister's nerf gun, and the look was complete. The holster is only made of vinyl, so it was not long before some rough use caused it to rip. (I could fix it on my sewing machine, but already I am trying to think of what we will use to replace it, because drawing and replacing your weapon causes wear!) The embroidered badge and seals make the wearer look very official. Note that, while the buttons are real, there are no button holes. Instead there is a strip of velcro behind the buttons (which in my opinion makes everyone's life easier. There is enough small motor skill practice with putting on the belt. 5-year-old needs help with the belt). The pants are nothing special; they just slip on, elastic waste band, no pockets. My favorite features are the cap (SO darned cute!) and the big POLICE across the back shoulders. Costume comes with a whistle, too, which we "lost" if you know what I mean, but it worked well, that's for sure. All in all, Little Boy loves it, and the hours of imaginative play have been worth the cost of this product.
