  • Great looking jacket but mediocre quality
    Verified Purchase

I've had this jacket for several weeks now and have worn it about a dozen times. Overall this is great looking jacket. The color is a bit hard to describe as it is less "charcoal" (the color used in the product description) and more of a mix between dark grey and brown. But for me that was a pleasant surprise; the color is very distinct and has more versatility than a dark brown or a charcoal. The micro-houndstooth pattern is also a big plus as it gives your look some depth when paired with other solids (e.g. jeans, one-color sweater, etc.) The coat is very lightweight which is what I was looking for, so don't expect it to keep you warm below 40 degrees. It's also not going to serve you well in the rain. I was a bit disappointed in the sizing. I have a 39" chest so I expected the standard Medium to fit fine. Unfortunately this jacket runs a bit small. If I'm wearing just a shirt it fits fine. However, if I'm wearing a button-down Oxford and even a thin (e.g., merino wool) sweater then the jacket is a bit tight around the chest. (Fortunately the sleeves and shoulders are still OK.) That said I know a Large would be way too big for me. The bigger disappointment, however, was the quality. The jacket comes with a pre-distressed look to the coloring. Look closely at the 4th picture, the one of the collar. You'll notice how to the left of the button the coloring appears lighter in certain areas. This "feature" appears in spots throughout the jacket. That didn't bother me personally; it's subtle enough that it gives the jacket a plausible distressed look. However, the pockets on the side (in the 1st picture the model is sticking his right hand into the side pocket) are almost completely white. Same houndstooth pattern but the dark color on the rest of the jacket was not applied to the insides of the pockets. As you move the jacket around the insides of those pockets becomes visible and doesn't look good at all. The other thing that bothered me was after wearing the jacket 5-6 times the insides of both front pockets developed holes in them. Which is odd because I don't put anything in those pockets. Overall not a bad jacket, but not worth the price I paid given the quality issues.
