I bought this book in part because I like to support African American writers and in part b/c I felt that this story has long been forgotten among the younger generation. The pictures are vivid and it is a great read for ANY child. Especially, if you want them to have a FULL appreciation for the America we have all come to love.

    • As a teacher, I use this book every year to introduce the topic of racial descrimination. We have some productive discussions as a result. For some children it is very eye-opening that others were treated this way in the United States of America.
