It's Christmas of 1183, and Henry II (Patrick Stewart) must find a successor to his throne. He favors his youngest son John, while his wife, Eleanor, believes that their eldest son, Richard the Lionhearted, would make a better king. While their disagreement plunges the family into a deceitful war of wills, it becomes apparent that neither of their three conniving boys are qualified for the job. Director Andrei Konchalovsky remakes the 1968 in this 2003 television production.

I wouldn't have believed in possible, but this version of the classic, has surpassed the original, starring Hepburn and O'toole. For years, I have been a fan of Patrick Stewart, but have always found it difficult to separate him from his Startrek role. This movie was the vehicle that accomplished that for me. Niether could I have ever imagined anyone being able to play the part of Eleanor of Aquitaine, other that Katherine Hepburn, but Glenn Close was marvelous. What a wonderful movie!!!!!
