I really enjoyed this movie. I was surprised the way Alex and his father got along. .. It was so intense when he interviewd Malcom X and the, head of the KU Klux Klan. It picked up where Roots left off..I recommend this to anyone who saw Roots to see this.

What an awesome account of Alex Haley's more recent family history. It is less violent than Roots, because it's not as much about slavery as it is the struggle to overcome racism in a slavery free country. This is a great part of the Roots experience. They even talk about "Queen", Haley's grandmother, & show her role in Haley's geneology. (There is also a show based on her life is called Queen starring Halle Berry & is equally worth watching.) And then there's other themes that are so realistic. Simon & Alex seem to have an adversarial relationship that is so typical of parents & children. Alex seemed to lack a vision for his life that his ancestors seemed to have all their lives. His struggle to find his vision serves as an incredible lesson to us all that it's never too late! Well worth the money!
