Stephen King is the author of more than fifty books, all of them worldwide bestsellers. Among his most recent are Hearts in Atlantis, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Bag of Bones, the screenplay Storm of the Century, and The Green Mile. He lives in Bangor, Maine, with his wife, novelist Tabitha King.
Don’t miss the classic tale from King of Horror and #1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King, described byPublishers Weekly as “the most frightening novel Stephen King has ever written.”

When the Creeds move into a beautiful old house in rural Maine, it all seems too good to be true: physician father, beautiful wife, charming little daughter, adorable infant son—and now an idyllic home. As a family, they’ve got it all...right down to the friendly car.

But the nearby woods hide a blood-chilling truth—more terrifying than death itself—and hideously more powerful.

The Creeds are going to learn that sometimes dead is better.

The movie really scared me as a kid and I was hoping the book would do the same thing. It started off great because I knew what would eventually come, but I couldn't help but wonder, with it taking so many pages (well over 100) for him to set up the scene, would I still even be giving this book a chance had I not seen the movie? Probably not. There was too much detail in the small stuff for my taste and when it did pick up, the book was over.
