This book was recommended by a counselor who is helping us connect with our ADULT children. It teaches ways to stay in a conversation and allow them to be open and honest, as well as ourselves to remain calm and supportive, even when we may not be in agreement! Many other valuables tools in the book to help with all ages and with different types of human relationships.

I have read the book, and done the exercises. I'm looking forward to using the companion workbook, by a different author, in order to get more practice. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in improving communication in all kinds of situations, from personal to work to social. I can see how language that clearly expresses how I feel, without blaming others, will be more likely to get my needs met. Likewise, I can empathize with others for mutual satisfaction. I'm learning to talk to myself without using "should" and "have to" so often!
