He is the author of Fonville Winans' Louisiana: Politics, People, and Places. He lives in Baton Rouge.

Philip Gould, who lives in Lafayette, Louisiana, is a documentary photographer. His work has been featured in numerous national magazines, among them Newsweek, National Geographic Traveler, and Smithsonian. His previous books of photographs include Louisiana's Capitols -- The Power and the Beauty and Cajun Music and Zydeco.
