Our whole family- 2 parents and two intensely energetic boys, 5 & 8, find this to be absolutely captivating. We avoid tv, opting for selected media options like videos. These are great to watch, both for the actual program and for the special sections on the filming. Very educational and entertaining. My boys ask questions like "are there really people living like this today?". It brought up good queries to consider like what do we really need as humans, and what material items make our lives better, what things are just "wants" that don't make us happy or satisfy needs.

IF you have seen the other BBC nature series...LIFE ETC....this one s as good but for me,a bit personal cause they went to the Farmer's market where I shop on Saturdays in NYC around the park, at Union Square which is 14 street..over the years it has gotten better and better...but this DVD I just give it a wee bit more of a star cause it was personal to me....but they are all astounding DVDs..you can NEVER fathom ,if you do not TAVEL or even see this DVD what happens and HOW people survive from day to day...it is NOT going to ****..they have to hunt, they have to hoard cause of the rainy season..I can go on & on..MUST MUST SEE!...the entire series is spectacular!...I compare this to Ken Burn's Documentaries, that's how good they all are...but start from the beginning of the series...it's hours and hours... Cheers.. Tony(NYC)
