A great children's book that this adult found amazing. Naturally, it's a quick read for any adult, I'll keep it for my nieces to read as appropriate. There's a small holocaust museum in Tokyo begging for artifacts to set up their (made up mostly of children and the museum's curator) program and a show. No other museums will give or loan anything at to the Japanese murseum. When the do finally receive something, it is literally "Hana's Suitcase". These children and their curator throw themselves into the pursuit of finding Hana or at least learning her story as a Jewish girl in Hitler's Europe. I found it an amazing that these children knew so little about the Holocaust and, with their curator's help, really took to the story of Hana's life. As an Amserican adult, I found the irony and the newness of it to another generation - a generation who's great-grandparents sided with Hitler an inspiring story. If just once our young could learn from the mistakes of history, this world would be a near utopia, instead of one story after another on celebutantes who forget how to dress in public. Far too often we don't keep our eye on the ball as these children do. It's refreshing. Worth reading and sharing with the young in your life.
