Dik Browne was born in New York and started working as an illustrator for Newsweek in the 1940's. He co-created the famous Hi and Lois strip with Mort Walker before inventing the lovably awful Viking Hagar the Horrible in 1973. Since his death in 1989, his son, Chris Browne, has continued to produce the strip.
This hardcover volume collects together the first two years' worth of strips that helped to forge the legend ofHagar the Horrible and make him one of the world's most loved and most popular cartoon characters of all time.

In a world filled with dragons, wizards, sea monsters, Norse gods and titanic battles, strides the man known only as – HAGAR THE HORRIBLE! The world's mildest marauder.

Following the noble traditions of Beowolf and umm... that movie, The Vikings, comes the epic saga of the best-known Viking in the history of the world, the lovable,Hagar the Horrible – and his unending quest to put meat, mead and swag on the family table.
