This is an excellent book!! Very hard to put down, kept my interest. Very talented writer, seems like page after page something happens. My favorite character in this book is Caris. I wish there were more writers like Ken Follett out there! He is truly a great writer with a great imagination!!! I would definately recommend this book and Pillars of the earth, also by this author.

An outstanding compilation of the first two years of the 11 year run of Terry and the Pirates, a classic strip from the 1930's and 40's. It's a strip about high adventure in the Orient, it features our young engenuine Terry, and his idol, the brave Pat Ryan, a cross between a suave Cary Grant, and the swashbuckling hero of lore, Alan Quartermain. They are joined by an exciting assortment of colorful characters, including a Lauren Bacall inspired femme named Burma, object of Pat's affection, and the infamous Dragon Lady, a true femme fatale, and one of the most storied comic villains of all time. Like the sister publication of The complete Dick Tracy, this hardbound volume tells the origins of its creation by writer Milton Caniff and explains the significance of the comic throughout it entire run. Going into detail about real life events that inspired many of the going's on in the strip. The Rise of communism in China, German espionage leading up to WW2, etc. a wonderful volume for any fan of classic americana, and/or the history of comics, and adventure stories. An especially good buy when you get the exceptional price overstock offers on this book, trust me, when you shop around you'll find this is the best deal on the net.
