Required summer reading for 7th grade. Extremely boring, but was required for school. My daughter would much rather read, The Clique series or Madison Finn!

Richard Peck uses history and real places to tell great stories. Children can learn about the turn of the century (the 20th) in his books. This is a delightful book, followed by 'A Year Down Yonder.' A must read for young adults and great fun for 'big people' , too.
