I bought this burgundy duvet cover, a 630 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet, and another 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet from overstock. Of the three, this one feels like its in a whole new class of smoothness. This duvet cover is smoother than any sheet/duvet cover I have ever felt, there are no stripes on it, the brand is Luxor, the color looks like the burgundy in the pic, and the shams have a crease where the pillow inserts in middle of the sheet on one side. Alot of people here are complaining of the shams, I don't see anything wrong with them. As for the actual duvet cover... Wow!!! It feels like a luxurious satin sheet, but has the crispness and coolness of a high quality cotton. So good infact I went to a department store to feel other 600 count sheets to confirm the legitmacy of my other purchases. Nothing in the store, except the the fancy 200 dollar 1000 thread counts felt quite as nice as these. This is a must buy, I have no idea where these other reviewers are getting their information or what sheet they received. All I know is I purchased 3 sheets/duvet covers at one time from overstock and this one could run smoothness circles around the other two.
I read the reviews before deciding the purchase this duvet. People were going on and on about how soft it was and what a good buy it was considering what it is and the price for it. So when I first touched the duvet, I was surprised by how NOT soft it was. HOWEVER, just a little google research about Egyptian cotton put all my worries to rest. I follow instructions I found on several sights online and washed the duvet, making sure that the water was cold, that I used only half the amount of detergent I normally would use for the load size, setting the machine to do an extra rinse cycle to make sure all the chemicals and detergent are washed out, and tumble-drying the duvet on low (since I have nowhere to hang-dry an item of that size). It made a world of difference. Already after one wash, the duvet is softer, which is exactly what is supposed to happen to Egyptian cotton. It's meant to be a durable material and that gets softer with more washings. I can't speak for the durability of the duvet yet, but I'm very pleased with the softness.
I dont understand why some experienced such wrinkling with this duvet as I certainly did not. Before using I washed it in cold water with just a little detergent, rinsed it very well, added a lot of fabric softener to try to combat excess wrinkles and then dried it. I took it out of the dryer and with help, got it on the duvet immediately. It wrinkled no more than sheets wrinkle, which is to say that I wouldnt wear a 100% cotton product straight out of the dryer before ironing or I would have a slightly rumpled appearance, so this was just fine. If people are disappointed that the fabric doesnt have the sheen and perfection it had straight out of the package, what set of 100% cotton sheets with the sateen finish ever does after being washed and dried? This is not a cotton blend. If those who love 100% cotton sheets at a medium thread count are careful to yank them out of the dryer and get them right on the bed and are content with what slight rumpling the cotton fabric will retain, then they will know exactly what to expect with this duvet cover. Mine was well made, it takes a little effort to get the buttons through the holes but that is a good thing: my last cover would not remain buttoned because the holes were too roomy. I recommend this product - not as an actual bedspread intended to provide a beautifully finished look to your bedding decor - this is a functional piece, to go under the finishing bedspread, and it does its intended job to do very well at a good price.
After reading all the reviews and looking at a host of other retailers (including Restoration Hardware), I decide to purchase this item in white. It arrived promptly and upon opening I found that the duvet cover and pillow shams had been tied with a satin black ribbon as part of the packaging. Unfortunately there was a black shadow all around where the ribbon had been (black had rubbed off on the white!). I spotted the affected area with a spot remover and threw it into my washing machine with a helping of Biz detergent, washed it on cold and also put it through an extra rinse. When the washing machine was finished, I removed the pieces and examined them carefully.....all the black mark had been removed. I placed everything in my dryer and dried on permanent press (low) until dry. I wanted a crisp look so I ironed the duvet cover which was quite easy to do. Put in on the bed and it looks FANTASTIC! Very soft and just a hint of sheen. Made my guest bedroom look like a 5 star hotel. I would definitely purchase this again....I inspected the entire ensemble and seams were sewed well, nice and straight, and the duvet cover lays perfectly when the duvet was inserted and placed on the bed. Perfect size for my queen bed. I am extremely happy that I purchased this item.
This is a beautiful duvet. It is very high quality heavy fabric, very soft, and I did not find it wrinkled alot in the dryer if I put it in by itself. The problem is that although I dried it on low, it shrank several inches and now does not cover up the mattress, so that you can see the sheets underneath on both sides. It is probably about 2 inches short on either side of the bed, It was not seriously expensive and maybe it is my fault for buying a more expensive product. I have always had good success buying stuff at Overstock so this is my first time to be disappointed. I will have to go and buy something else now.
Great high quality duvet cover. As described, the package includes duvet cover and pillow cases. Fabric feels great and there are buttons to keep the duvet inside the cover
I ordered this Duvet cover for my king size bed. The color is good and I like the soft but heavy feel of the fabric. I was disappointed when I went to place my down comforter into the duvet and there weren't any ties in the corners to keep the duvet in place. I don't like to use safety pins because they might come open and poke someone. The Egyptain Cotton does have wrinkle problems but most cotton does. Overall I like the product but will have to sew in the ties- It would have been nice to know that it didn't have ties when I ordered it.
This 650 thread count Egyptian cotton is awesome. The quality is top notch, and it is super soft to the touch. It came with 2 pillow shams that I didn't really want, but I guess I can use them at a later time. Would definitely buy again just for the duvet cover.
I am quite pleased with my purchase. As with any high thread count bed linen, it will come out of the dryer kind of wrinkled, but as long as you immediately fold it or put it on the bed, the wrinkles should smooth out. That's been my experience. This duvet cover has a nice sheen to it, but it doesn't look shiny like polyesther. It just looks like a nice, high thread count duvet cover. I made sure the measurements were approximately the same as my duvet, so it fits perfectly.
Lovely, heavy, polished cotton duvet cover and shams.
The duvet cover is great. I never use shams.
I've purchased Superior Egyptian cotton sheets in varying thread counts, and for the Duvet Cover, 650 is just the ticket. Soft and flowing without being too stiff (like the 1500tc), this one's a winner. The color matches very closely with the other thread counts made by Superior, which is nice if one version is out of stock for a component of your bedding and you need to mix and match, as I did.
The duvet cover is very soft and has a definite sheen to it. High quality fabric. The king cover seems to run a little big. It might be that it will shrink when it is washed but even if it doesn't it is a great duvet cover. Button closure. I purchased the white one.
"Wow", my husband said, "this new duvet is so soft, and the color is deep and bright". I love it too. We got the medium blue, a delightful color and matched it up with print pillow shams and a couple of small bodoir pillows. Looks terrific. t
Lovely soft cotton- beautiful color(I chose blue) Shams are well made too
Very comfortable duvet cover.

The duvet cover fits the comforter perfectly. The buttons secure it well. The light blue color is pale blue, soft, washed up nicely.
Egyptian Cotton 650 Thread Count Solid Sateen Finish 3-piece Duvet Cover Set, everthing as described, well worth buying, great price, great comfort, looks very expensive
An actual duvet cover that lives up to it's description. The burgundy is a beautiful claret color & the matching shams fit regular standard size pillows. A great buy.
Very soft! Would recommend adding sturdy insert pillows and the rim of the pillow shams are a little flimsy, but overall looks very nice.
