I love this comforter and I'm so happy I bought it! This comforter is well made. For those who've never had a silk comforter, they aren't puffy like down but instead flat so they drape nicely on the bed. Although lightweight, it's warm but still comfortable in the warm southern summers. I put a 320tc duvet cover on mine and I love how the comforter drapes on me. Feels very luxurious-as soft as down, only lighter and allergy free since silk is naturally dust mite resistant. I recommend using a duvet with this since it's dryclean only but with proper care you shouldn't have to do that but every 5-10 years. This is a bargain price, too! BTW, fill weight wasn't listed on overstock's website but the package says full/queen is 40oz and king is 50oz which is equal to other silk comforters I looked at at much higher prices. Very happy with my purchase!

      Option: King

This King size (50 oz.)Silk filled Damask stripe 260tc comforter seems really nice. It is heavier than I thought it would be, but not too heavy. I would say it is about twice the thickness of a good quality handmade quilt. The weight is like two nice quilts as well. I purchased this because I read that silk helps to regulate body temp so you don't get too hot or cold. Seems good so far. Also, doesn't attract dust mites. I really don't know too much about silk comforters. I have read that like down, the heavier, the warmer. I also understand there are different types of silk fill. This package only states size and weight as Twin 63x86 30 oz. Queen 86x86 40oz. King 102x86 50oz. This weight seems good for this part of the country (southern northeast). The FQ size is small for me. I like plenty to turn down and over hang on the sides. I purchased the King. I use mine like a bed spread. The King would be perfect for a Queen size bed in my opinion. Mine bed is a Full size. A little big, but have plans for a Queen bed and like the extra room. The Damask stripe outside is very pretty! Also, has a pretty satin piping! Too bad it has to be in a duvet, it is very pretty! The only draw back for me is that it has to be dry cleaned. I did read one account of a person who accidently washed their silk comforter. It came out okay. I will keep mine in a duvet and dry clean when needed. They do not need dry cleaning every season. It is suggested to hang it out on a line in the fresh air and sun. The price is great compared to other Silk comforters I have seen. Overstock transaction was perfect! I give this Silk filled comforter five stars for price, quality and comfort!

I was hesitant to try the silk comforter b/c I have only used down or down alternative. While warm, our down comforter always leaked feathers and I was constantly vacuuming so I was looking for something different and came across the fabulous reviews of this silk comforter. They are well warranted. 1. It is incredibly thin and is therefore undetectable under a quilt or decorative comforter. This makes the bed look wonderful on the bed--not lumpy or too high off the ground. 2. We're right outside of Chicago where temperatures can range from super high to super low and we keep our duvet on year round. This one keeps your body comfortable at all times and at all temperatures. My husband is always freezing and I like to be cooler at night but we are BOTH comfortable under this comforter. Never once have I been too cold (despite it's thinness) nor too hot. 3. This comforter does not shift around on the bed like our down one did. It stays in place throughout the night and is fairly lightweight so as to make bed-making easier in the morning than it had been w/the down. 4. The ONLY thing I would mention to other potential customers is its size. While it looks and fits perfectly on the bed (I have a king), it is difficult finding a duvet cover this exact size so just make sure the duvet cover has clips or ties in the corners so you can secure this silk duvet inside it. Our duvet cover is a few inches longer than this duvet but, b/c the cover has and we utilized, the ties keep the duvet in place and we have not had a problem with it shifting within. In conclusion, if I ever have to purchase another comforter again ( I doubt it as this is such great quality and, in a duvet, should last quite a while), I will definitely stick to the silk. It is DEFINITELY worth the money.

After reading the many reviews on this comforter, and comparing it to others on the site, I decided to take a chance and order it. I've had my old (emphasis on OLD) down comforter for more than 10 years, and every morning it began to look like a chicken had been murdered in my bed. Not to mention with the down comforter, even when it was still new, every winter I had a horrible 'adjusting' period where my allergies would kick in for about a month until I was used to it. But since I'm a cold wuss, I'd just bare it for the sake of keeping warm. My husband and I decided it was long overdue for us to get a new comforter, and he left the task up to me. As I said, I scoured the reviews, and was very hopeful when I read through the ones for this comforter. The idea that I'd no longer have to put up with allergies, or a comforter that would get too heavy on one side (my old one wasn't quilted) and drag down off the bed was very appealing to me. So I ordered and tried my best to wait patiently for it to arrive. Now, I should mention here that I live in NYC, and this winter had been dipping into the teens and single digits as well as below zero at night. It also tends to be humid while cold, which makes for a very miserable winter. My husband also prefers to sleep with the window open, which is located above our heads. I've also come to prefer sleeping this way as well, however I am anemic so I do tend to get cold very easily, and need to be very warm in order for me to sleep comfortably this way. When the comforter arrived, I was a bit taken aback by how terribly thin it was. Many of the reviewers warned about this, but I was still a little disappointed by it. It was well made, however, very lightweight and looked pretty. The cotton felt much sturdier than my old quilt, even when it was new (from what I could recall). Just in case, I put a cotton quilt I usually reserve for the warmer months on top. That night, i was pleasantly surprised at how warm it got with our body heat, and stayed warm. It got down to the teens that night, and there were a few points that it got so warm, I had to throw off the top quilt. When our duvet cover arrived a few days later, I didn't need to use the top quilt at all. I also have to point out that with the humidity in our winters, waking up with my old comforter would usually be gross. I'd be warm, but sort of clammy. Not so with the silk comforter! I'd feel the moisture in the air, but I'd remain relatively dry. Since I have an old knee injury, this difference has been very noticeable to me! I wake up sometimes without any aches at all! It's also nice that with all the tossing and turning at night, my husband and I no longer have to fight to pull the cover over to our respective sides anymore. It actually stays put! So it being so lightweight is a definite plus. Overall, I highly recommend this quilt. We've had it for over a month now, and I love it so much. It's super warm, light and comfortable in every conceivable way. And no allergic reactions! I live near a major city highway, so the less allergens for me, the better! And the results have been remarkable. Not mention the price can't be beat! It's only about a 1/3 of what I paid for that down quilt. I'll never go back to feathers again!

Our down comforter, that we love, is just too warm for summer so we were looking for something a little lighter. We decided to try the Silk-filled Damask Stripe 260 thread count comforter because the price was so good. I was a little leery of it because other silk comforters were so much more expensive, but after reading the reviews we decided to try it. It has been a perfect weight and temperature for the summer! The only negative about it was the funny odor when it was fresh out of the box. I aired it out for a day or so and the smell seems to be gone.

I received this silk duvet the other day, and have been satisfied with it. I was concerned about a few things: - quality - strong odor mentioned by previous commenter(s) - size - warmth. As for quality, I'm totally satisfied. I feel like this was a great deal at the price I paid - especially relative to the cost of some comparable products I've looked at. As for a strong odor, I looked carefully for this when opening the packaging, but have detected no odor at all. I was a bit concerned about the size, because I was worried that 86"x86" is on the small size for a standard queen duvet. I was worried it would leave excess space inside my duvet covers, and that it wouldn't provide the coverage we are used to. I'm happy to report that it may be 2 or 4 inches narrower across than other duvets we've used, but we haven't noticed. I was looking for a warm duvet that could function for us through the winter, but unfortunately this isn't it. We live in an older drafty house in a very cool and damp area, and winter nights are chilly. I think this duvet will be perfect in the summer, but in the winter and even in shoulder months (I'm currently writing in April), additional warmth is required. We've added a throw over the bed for now, but when winter comes round again I'd actually consider purchasing a second one of these duvets and just doubling up. Other than the warmth concern, we're very happy, and would recommend the purchase.

I've been bragging to anyone who will listen to me about this purchase. For years we've been trying to get down comforters to work with us, not against us, and when I switched to this Silk filled comforter, I quit fighting my bedding! We spent a fair amount of money on a down comforter purchased from this sight as well, but the fill kept finding its way to the edges of the bed, and no matter how much time and effort (shaking, cursing, shuffling, etc.) I put into trying to get the loft back into the middle of the bed, I couldn't get the comforter to cooperate! This Silk filled comforter fit perfectly into our King size duvet, I will agree with other reviewers that it's perhaps 2 inches short? Whatever, it's fine, we don't notice it. The weight feels so comforting, it keeps up at a much cooler temperature, yet perfectly, snuggly warm. The weight of the comforter was the first thing we noticed, the slight smell at first was the next. The smell of hay went away in a day or two, and now we're left with a comforting comforter that keeps us warm, doesn't frustrate us or shift around inside the duvet, and will hopefully last us for years. The over all look is different, you don't get that pile of whipped cream, inviting puffy look like down, but at least you don't get the lumps either! :)

I bought this comforter to "fill" a ***** duvet cover. I have a king size duvet cover on a queen size bed and I only had a queen down fill comforter to put in it. It didn't fill the duvet out fully so I bought this comforter mainly to use a a filler for the duvet. I didn't want it to be heavy or extra fluffy since I use the queen down filled on the bed also. I can use both in the winter when its extra cold outside or turn the down filled back and only sleep under the silk filled on warmer nights. I like the weight of this comforter but even though I ordered a King size, it doesn't fill my duvet either. I guess I need to just hem this duvet and stop trying to fill it up. I would buy this comforter again and I would buy another to use on other beds. I like the "lack" of loft and the fact that it is silk filled instead of down. I also liked the price.

    • Not a Top Quality Silk Duvet

This is not a traditional Chinese silk duvet, which is fluffy & soft. They are filled with low quality/inferior short silk fiber instead of long floss mulberry silk, which is very pricey. For the price, it is not bad, using just as a summer blanket. For those of you who are interested in authentic Chinese silk duvet, I recommend you go to other website or sources to find long floss mulberry silk fill. You can definitely tell the difference. This is a bargain item for people who don't really know silk that much or as a starter for using silk duvet. I only give a 2 star because of the quality.

I've had this silk comforter for almost a year now and love it. I bought it to replace an overstuffed down comforter that was giving me allergies. Aesthetically, I was over the fluffy bed look, and wanted a "flatter" comforter and a neater, trimmer look. This comforter delivers at a bargain price. It looks great with my simple, white duvet. I've found it warm enough through fall, but I may pair it with a coverlet for winter. Again, it is NOT for people who want a fluffy down alternative comforter -- silk is a much more compact fiber, perfect for people who want a more spartan, simple look to their bed. Also, note that this comforter is dry clean only.

According to the reviews, it was supposed to be light and worm. Light - yes. Warm - not really. Not warmer than our old wool blankets. Not warm enough for the winter. Still need one more layer (a comforter) over it. I suspect it is a "spring weight comforter", not a "winter weight comforter": "The weight refers to the amount of silk floss used in the fill. The winter weight comforter uses more silk floss fill and is heavier than the spring weight comforter". See http://silkcomforter.info/ for the guidelines on the weight.

My parents have several of these from Hong Kong, and this one is about 1/2 the weight (adjusting for size) than theirs. These are supposed to be heavy, yet flexible. So that you feel like you're in a cocoon. This one isn't really flexible (the damask cover is pretty stiff) and about the same weight as a regular down comforter. For those who aren't familiar with the real Chinese silk comfortors, this is an acceptable substitute for a down comforter, but doesn't approach the real thing in weight.
