Yes, the fabric is far from soft cotton sheeting and clearly has a low thread count, but who sleeps directly on pillow protectors, anyway? That's what pillowcases are for, folks. They washed and held up beautifully, and did so in my top-loading HE machine, which is notorious for its mangling capabilities -- so that says something. Not a loose thread to be seen. I'm ordering another set right now.
I had purchased two of these in a local store, neither was the correct item for the box. I am unsure what they were but I ended up checking here. The price at Overstock was 25% less for two than at the local discount store. The product was correct, well packaged and shipped/arrived fairly quickly. The case is very nice and decently soft. Although it could be slept on directly, I put a case over the protector. These are nice, not just for allergies or bed bugs, but also to keep on extra pillows that I keep in my closet for guests. The pillows stay nice, fresh and dust free. Pillows also will not have to be washed if always in the case. Just wash the case! So much easier! My Nana taught me to first put on the pillow protector and then several pillowcases on top.. then just remove the cases every 1 to 5 days, as preferred. It allows you to always have a fresh clean case, then on laundry day, wash them all and start over. So much easier than changing cases every day.
I purchased one set of these Tuffguard Plus Pillow Protectors and are very impressed with them. I thought the plush terry-cloth type of exterior would make it difficult to get the pillow cases on & off of my King Sized pillows, but actually the opposite happened. These make it easier to put the pillowcases on & off, but still holds them securely in place. These are very soft and luxurious and are very well made. The zippers are of top quality, and larger in size. I've bought a lot of pillow protectors over the years and these are the BEST I've every tried. These are much nicer than the "non-plush" product offered by Tuffguard. I bought two of the "Non-Plush" ones for a guest room and the PLUSH ones are superior. Give them a try! Oh, and by the way, these are manufactured by Leggit Platt who has been in business for MANY years, and are one of the top manufacturers of bed frames (both traditional and motorized). This is a proven company who make great quality products. I'm very picky and I'm impressed with these protectors. They are not hot, but do add a cozy snuggle feel to your pillow. Very nice!
I was looking for pillow covers for my grandchildren. I needed a true waterproof cover but did not want the kids to sleep on a piece of plastic. These covers are perfect. they have a rubber backing to a very soft raised nap cotton top. They come out of the wash as good as new. I hung them out to dry (didn't want to put them in the dryer). I tell everyone how wonderful these covers are & where to get them...
