I've long considered adding wool to our beds for temperature control and comfort. When my 3 year old started complaining that her Naturepedic mattress wasn't comfy and she was constantly waking up sweaty, I finally decided to pull the trigger. I only wanted organic wool in organic cotton since the chemicals that create "washable wool" defeat the point of putting wool on your bed and, since wool is naturally antimicrobial and antibacterial, I'm not concerned with washing something you just "air to clean". Anyhow, I searched through a lot of the boutique natural living stores around San Francisco and even started looking in to buying from a local fiber co-op. However, when I found this Bio Sleep topper on Overstock, I jumped at the opportunity. The topper came quickly (it drop ships from OR) and it is soft and lovely. The wool inside is high loft and perfect for snuggling down into. There is also no sheepy smell. My 3 year old immediately knew there was something different about her bed when she climbed in (I didn't tell her it was on), telling me "My bed feels high and soft, Mommy. I think it's a snuggle cloud!" I now can't wait to add one to our bed along with the all-season comforter. Check the price pricing for each product on here, some sizes are cheaper direct, but the twin and CA king prices can't be beat!

This pad costs a little more, but it is well worth it. Since I put this on my bed my sleep has improved dramatically. The organic wool ikeeps my body temperature regulated and doesn't bother my alergies. It is made of high quality materials, the cover is smooth, the wool isn't inclined to bunch, and the pad stays put on the bed no matter how much moving around I do. This is a luxury item that enhances restful slumber. What more could you ask? I highly reccomend this product.. Two years later: I decided to have this pad cleaned as recommended and it totally went to pieces. The wool batting was in chunks and bunches and I had to throw it away. I wish I had just kept it wrapped in a protector and washed that instead of cleaning the mat. Too bad, it was really comfortable while it lasted.

    • We tried everything else, so why not wool?

We have been seeking the Holy Grail of good sleep for years, experimenting with nearly every mattress and topper on the market (coils, latex, adjustable air, memory foam, egg crate, gel, sheep skin, etc.) The only thing we hadn't tried yet was the stuffed wool. So we figured why not? Not wanting to commit to a king size, we went for one twin, figuring we'd each try it out and if we liked it, we'd order another. Turns out it was a great idea. We now have two twin toppers that fully cover our standard size king bed, with the added bonus of easily turning and fluffing each time we change the sheets. (Can't imagine doing that with a single king size topper, since these things are anything but light.) Our base mattress is 100% latex, which means it's firm but not forgiving. Since we prefer firm, and not the sensation of sinking into a hammock (the feeling we get from other toppers), the wool is a great compromise. It provides cushioning for pressure points but doesn't make you feel like you're being swallowed. It does make the nights warmer, not a plus for me, since I'm a hot sleeper already, but a definite plus for my husband, who is often cold. But other than the heat issue (fairly easily solved by kicking off the blankets) I'd recommend these to anyone searching for pressure point relief without too much softness.

I love the wool products Bio Sleep is offering. I have both a king size pillow and this mattress topper from them. It's huge out of the box, it's stood up well to a month of use, and it smells like sheep. I purchased this for my dorm bed, but I've been using it for the last month on my Full size bed anyway. I like it so much I wish I'd thought to buy one before. These are also excellently priced. Comparable products I've researched have always been considerably more expensive, so I never made the leap until I saw these products on Overstock. I'd recommend them to anyone. I take one star off because while I love the products, I don't love the advertising. The content tag on this product says "100% Organic Cotton, 100% Pure Grow Wool." The Pure Grow Wool of the pacific northwest is 'eco,' sustainable, humanly produced, and most other things I'd want from an organic product, but it's not actually certified organic, at least that I can find. Bio Sleep's description "100-percent organic Eco-Valley wool" raises eyebrows. They should be clearer in their advertising.

We bought this to replace a 2-inch wool topper that had compressed over the years. This topper is nice and thick and is of very good quality. We've had it about 9 months and it has compressed somewhat despite turning and fluffing 1-2x each month. Still, it is comfortable and we sleep well.

I bought a new mattress online that i found completely wonderful, but my husband complained about a little. Rather than sending it back, i added a 2 inch latex pad (dunlop for springiness) and looked for a wool topper on the advice of a friend. She spent about *** on a 4 inch topper. I couldn't do that, but i did a lot of researchand found this one seemed to have the same amount of wool and weighed the same amount more expensive ones did. Other 3 inch toppers weighed just over half what this one weighs. So, i bought this and its fantastic. Im using a pure cotton mattress pad over it and we've both never been this comfortable. I also bought a fantastic wool comforter and I'm warm every night without being hot. Best sleep ever. Fantastic topper!

My old wool mattress slowly got all ripped up ( the company nowadays have much stronger material covering the wool) and it was also flattened to 3/4 to 1 inch thick. Obviously it was a good time for me to find a good one. Found and bought this Organic Eco-Valley Wool. The first night I slept on this heavenly mattress and woke up feeling very refreshed! It made my FMS muscles must more relaxed and less tired. You can guess the rest. I still ❤️ it!

    • Best sleep in a long time

We absolutely LOVE this product. Purchased a new bed at the first of the year because our previous 2 yr old bed began to sag. This time we purchased a firm bed thinking this would be better for my hips and back. Boy, was I wrong. As the months passed I began having more and more problem with pain to the point of not sleeping much and incredible pain when walking, standing, or sitting. After sleeping on a hotel bed with a soft mattress topper and experiencing the first full pain free night in almost a year I decided to research mattress toppers when I came across the 3" wool topper. We had considered a memory foam topper, but my husband is a 'hot' sleeper and we didn't want to spend even more for a top of the line cool foam topper. After reading the reviews here we decided to chance purchasing the wool topper. We love, love, love it. I call it the squishy. That's probably not a good description since it's not really squishy, but it does make the bed feel luxuriously soft. It welcomes me every night. After only a couple of nights my hips and lower back began to heal and I have so much more energy from nearly uninterrupted sleep. I am now on the road to full recovered. My husband also loves it as his back is feeling much more relaxed and it has actually made him feel more comfortable with the temperature. For those concerned with the smell...when they arrived (we purchased 2 twin for a king bed per someone elses suggesting, makes turning them much easier), I lay them out on top of the bed with a ocilating fan for 2 hrs, turned them and left until bedtime about 3-5 more hrs. The smell was almost completely gone. Placed them under sheets and the smell was not noticeable. Prior to purchasing this my arms kept falling asleep as well as the lower back issues. I had tried several types of pillow, but I believe the issue was the fact that our bed was so firm there wasn't any cushion for my shoulder when sleeping on side. After we added the topper I transitioned over a 2 week period to a thicker firm memory foam pillow that I modified (trimmed out a shallow hole for my head so my neck would have more support). Wool topper solved hip issue and with the added height of the new pillow allowed my shoulder to recover as well. No more arms falling asleep! The quality of the outside cover is very nice. We have had it for about a month now. Have flipped it over once. If you feel it is starting to compress, just give it a few tugs in the compressed area to fluff. I highly recommend this product. Just purchased one for my 84 yr old father who has been experiencing same symptoms after sleeping on firm bed as well. Look forward to leaving positive review after he experiencing same results.

We ordered this when our new mattress was firmer than we were used to. It adds a nice amount of cushion, though isn't pillowy--more of a 'firm' softness. We fluff it (lift, turn, lift turn and repeat) whenever we change the bedding to help keep it soft. It feels pleasantly warm when we are cold and cool when we are too warm. We never feel sweaty on it. For those who wonder, the outside cotton is organic, as is the wool. The wool isn't separated by stitching, but stays in place because of individual 'tucks' through the topper. You can unzip the side and see the wool inside.

I find this mattress topper to be quite comfortable. However, there was a strong barnyard type odor initially, which has since subsided, (it also helps that I have also encased it with a cover and covered it with a waterproof mattress pad. With these things in place there is no noticeable odor. It also is starting to dip some already in the area where the hips are. I have had it for about a month and I weigh about 140 pounds. I am sleeping well on it though, and find it comfortable.

Soft and comfortable, it will improve the quality of your sleep. Cons: it will lose half of its thickness after the first week, pros: it is more comfortable and eco - friendly than a synthetic product.

It's soft and healthy. No smell. I bought this for my daughter. She said over time the center got compressed so the bed became not flat and not comfortable. I also bought the King size, I turn it around every couple of weeks. It's hard to do since the pad is pretty big, otherwise you have the same problem. Even though, the edge still is thicker than the center, no matter what you do. It's hard to make it fluffy again.

Normally, I search for cool spots in bed during a hot flash. The natural wool fiber is much better than synthetics for dispersing/retaining body temperature. Once my feet are pre-heated, I sleep like a baby. When a hot flash occurs, I merely uncover slightly or roll to one side to cool off. I am very happy with this purchase!

This topper is very nice and adds a plush feel to my latex mattress that I also bought here on Overstock.com. There is, at first, a very slight sheepy smell, but not unpleasant to me, and it has disappeared now after a few weeks. I do have a waterproof, breathable cover that is bamboo and very cool over this and the mattress, and I think that the cover may compress the topper just a little and diminish the plush feel a little bit, but I would prefer that to having to dry clean this thing if I spill something on it, or my cat might possibly barf on it. (forgive that unpleasant comment, but other cat lovers understand this, haha) All-in-all I give this 5 stars. I had a 70 year old 6'6" 240 pound man sleep on the bed with this topper and he said it was the most comfortable bed he's ever slept in.

Excellent! Very thick, you get what you pay for !! Not sure it is exactly 3” though, may 2” to 2 1/4’...(?) somrhitng like that, but very think and helps with the body pain. I don’t find it too hot either as I’m a hot sleeper. It is odd how wool is both warming but not hot. It was very pricey, but how do you price a nights sleep. Priceless! Flip often, I take and smack it outside every couple mo this and this will last you a long time!

Two months ago I purchased this wool topper in twin xl for my sideof a king size bed. When I first got it, it was light and fluffy but compressed quickly. I expected this. It’s common sense that any material with the strands of fiber laying horizontally will compress quickly. Regardless, I love this topper. Although it has compressed, it is still soft and relieves pressure points. It regulates my body temperature whether it's warm or cold in the room. The cover is nicely made and has a zipper. I can actually remove the string holding the layers together and add more wool batting should I ever feel the need to. I bought an inexpensive all cotton duvet cover for extra added protection. The nice thing about a twin xl is I just roll it up in the morning and store it in the corner before making the bed. I easily shake it out once a week. I just recently purchased another twin xl for the hubby. I like the idea of two extra long twins than a king. I can imagine the king would develop a hump in the middle of the mattress and is more difficult to shake out. Overall, i am happy woth this purchase.

I got stuck with an expensive hybrid mattress that was too firm and the layer of memory foam steamed me like an oven. A latex topper resolved the too firm issue, and now my shoulder pain is gone. However, the latex was still warmer than I wanted. Enter this Eco Wool topper. Perfection! Soft, yet supportive, and COOL. The two toppers saved me from trashing a $1800 mattress.

I love this mattress topper. I tried out one twin size on one side of our king bed before buying a second for the other side. It's fluffiness is great at filling in spaces when I sleep on my side or back. The first one we had for about a year before buying the second one, so the first one is a bit more compressed but the 2nd one has stayed fluffier over the time we've had it. I like to flip and rotate these when I change the sheets. I have also hung them out on the laundry line just to air out from time to time in the summer. We used these in the Pacific NW and found them to be comfortable and warm. We now live in Hawaii and they are comfortable and cool. The temperature regulation of wool is really nice. They may have had a slight wool scent upon arrival but I don't remember. They don't smell now so I don't find it to be an issue.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"How high is the level ft of the king? 2 inches? 4? Does that decompress much when lying on it? I am looking for pressure point relief and wan to be able to roll over easily; the opposite of memory foam where you can move easily."

      • A:

I'm not sure if I can answer all your questions but we have owned the Cal King sized mattress topper for several years. It was 3" deep when we bought it and has compressed quite a bit over that time, even with fairly regular turning and shaking. However, I would absolutely buy one of these again. It regulates your body temperature wonderfully, and is VERY comfortable to sleep on. It is much easier to roll over in than memory foam (which feels like it's sucking you in) and excellent for pressure point relief. We put it on top of our very firm natural rubber latex mattress to give a layer of softness while still having the support a firm mattress offers. I'll probably replace our current one sometime in the next few years.

    • Q:

"How much does the queen weigh or how many oz per sq yard? Thank you. "

      • A:

The queen measures approximately 60 inches x 80 inches. This topper has 18 lbs of fill.

    • Q:

      "Is this machine washable?"

      • A:

No, this is not machine washable. Care instructions: Dry clean if necessary, but sun and air seasonally to revitalize the wool or 'Air Fluff' in a dryer with no heat for 15 to 20 minutes.

    • Q:

"Why did you choose this product?"

      • A:

        Matters too firm

      • A:

Organic materials, looks like less bunching. Concerned about heat though

      • A:

My daughter is going away to college and they will not allow mattresses other than supplied by the University. The beds are not comfortable and are flame retardant so I want an organic barrier between her and the mattress supplied for health and comfort.
