"Is there any way for down to travel from one baffle to another or are they completely sealed baffles?"
I returned a 400 TC Ralph Lauren down comforter to Macy's because feathers were leaking everywhere. The 1000 TC on this very well made comforter prevents any feathers from escaping. I've had it a few weeks and not a single feather has leaked. It has stayed a bit more flat due to the weight of the fabric but has fluffed up a bit since purchased. Feels medium weight -- plenty warm without being too hot. Very satisfied with purchase....

All Cotton Supreme Natural Down Fiber Blend Comforter
I have had a few "affordable" down comforters over the years and research them every time I get ready to buy. The very best ones are light (lightweight cover, usually cotton or silk with a down-proof special weave and thread count between 320-460), fluffy (filled with a considerable amount of 90%+ of 700+ fill-power goose down), have a TRUE baffle-box construction (not opened at the corners of the boxes like most of these on Overstock.com are), and are machine washable. A well-made down comforter resist flattening during its life and should last 10-20 years or more. I took a chance on this comforter because of all the high reviews and ordered in haste - with the sale ending soon and a wife standing over me, but it is definitely a low-grade down comforter. I suspect most high reviews are from folks who have never had a decent down comforter...otherwise they would be writing a review such as this one. Low-grade down comforters like this one will usually say "dry-clean only"...which...most of the time, means the manufacturer uses a high thread count cover that is starched beyond belief to hold in the down and feather mix (75% down on this one). Although the cover on this comforter looks great and is very durable, finely woven (high TC), with an attractive silver piping around the edge, it is starched so much that if you move around at all it is horribly noisy to sleep under. It was much better in our soft duvet cover, but just not worth the noise and crunch getting in and out of bed with a sleeping spouse. Despite being a "dry clean only" comforter, washing and drying several times would soften the material, but then it would loose all the starch and I'm afraid feathers would likely be able to work themselves out easily - as research suggests. Aside from the poor material choice, the down was horribly distributed and some of the partially-baffled boxes were filled with very little down - you could see right through them when lifting up the comforter to the light of a window. My research has shown and I have found that manufacturers must state "True Baffle Box" construction if the baffles are actually closed off - which is the only way to really keep down from shifting over time. With a partially baffled box-type comforter you can really never get the down back into position once it has shifted. I don't understand why so many manufacturers leave the corners open....why not just finish the job while you are there sewing!!??!! I do have a longitudinally or linearly baffled down comforter (long, tube shaped baffles the length of the comforter), and you can shake those from one end to the other to get down back into position...but it is a process that really needs to be done every couple weeks because of the "open baffle" design that causes the down to shift in the first place. And finally, I made the mistake of not calculating the total fill power of this comforter before ordering. To truly find out and compare how much warming power you have between the multitude of down comforters available...you must do a simple calculation for each particular comforter. Take the fill power of the down (550 for this one) x weight of down fill (38oz for Queen on this one) = 20,900 total fill power/queen. If you compare very many down comforters, you will find that this is very low and can only provide enough warmth to be considered a "light" or possibly a "medium"...but in no way can it be "extra-warmth" as claimed. Extra-warmth down comforters should be above 30-32K total fill power. With most down comforters - and especially the lower quality ones - one thing I would recommend is to order a larger size comforter than your duvet cover, then attach it (evenly distributed) within the cover (for us, we put a king inside a queen sized cover). This seems to help keep the down from shifting as bad and helps achieve a more full, fluffy look and feel. In addition, on a budget you can get more total fill power within your smaller duvet cover and actually "create your own" warmth rating of comforter to suit your sleeping preference - depending on which comforter you buy. For this comforter, the king size has 48oz of down and would give our queen size duvet cover a total fill power of 26000 - which is just a little lower than we prefer (we aim for about 28-30K fill power for year round in our bedroom which seasonally ranges from 65-72 degrees). If you have the money and want to have a comforter that lasts you many, many years...you are probably better off spending the $400-500 and getting a great down comforter on sale from the best manufacturers. But for a more thrifty person like me - as you might suspect, we have sent this comforter back for a full refund and will continue to look for a better "good deal".Read More

I love this down comforter. It keeps me the perfect temperature. It makes it so hard to leave my bed. I haven't lost any feather yet either. My only complaint is that there is grey piping around the outside edges and you can't see it in the photo they provide on the site.Read More
Great quality down comforter. Had no smell coming out of the package. Fabric is nice, soft and truly luxurious. True 1000 TC and not a single feather leaks through and feather distribution holds well and evenly. Perfect amount of warmth, not too thin/light and not too heavy. One of the best down comforters I've owned. You can not go wrong when ordering this comforter. I will be ordering more as back up and gifts!!Read More
great comforter! when I took it out of the box I was expecting a funny smell like most down comforters have. The 1000tc is great no feathers leaking out.Read More
