First, I have to tell you that I am more picky than most people, especially when it comes to stuff that will touch my skin! My husband says I would have made a great Queen! I carefully read reviews looking for just the right comforter for our Master Bedroom. My husband and I had enjoyed the fluffy, soft covers during our stay at the Hampton Inn, and we wanted something very close to their white, soft comforter. I decided on the down alternative comforter, because I was afraid I might have allergies to real down. I then started to narrow down the comforters that Overstock has to offer. I did not want to pay $400 for a comforter, like one would have to do for Hampton's bedding. We are pretty rough on our comforters, and I needed something more "disposable." When this comforter came in the mail, I promptly took it straight to my extra-large capacity washer to give it a freshening wash, as I do not like the smell of a new piece of bedding, generally. I wanted to wash it in my detergent and fabric softener so that it would be fresh for the first night of use. As one person previously reported, I got a small tear in the seam where the comforter rubbed against the agitator, apparently. I decided that this comforter, especially in a king size, is just too big to go in a home washer, and I think it really would be better to take it to a laundry mat or dry cleaner for cleaning. Otherwise, you are going to rub all kinds of tears in it. I put it through 3 cycles in the dryer. It fluffed fine, but it takes a long time to dry all that filling inside. Now that my comforter was clean and fresh, I was ready to test it for comfort. My initial feeling was that the material did not really seem as soft (at supposedly 700 thread count) as my 400 thread count sheets did. For particularly sensitive princesses like me, I thought it had just a tad bit of roughness to it, but nothing horrible. After sleeping with it for two nights now, I can say that it is wonderful. It does not make me itch or bother my very sensitive skin in any way. It is incredibly soft! The weight of this comforter is about moderate. It is not too light or too heavy. We sleep under heavy air conditioning, and it definitely is wonderful to snuggle under it in the cool hours of the morning. It keeps you very warm without being really heavy on your body. I think it will be great in the winter here in Tennessee. Like other reviewers, I will say that it runs extremely small. I put it on a Queen bed with thick mattresses, and it will not even cover from top to bottom of the mattress. It comes down on the sides just about to where the dust ruffle should start. I think you are going to have to find a thin spread or something to put over it if you want to have a good looking bed ensemble. It definitely does not cover my bed like I would like. I use it more like one would use a blanket. I have a more formal spread to put on when company comes. So what is my bottom line? Even with all its shortcomings (mostly the size of it), I love it, and so does my husband. It is every bit as comfortable as the Hampton Inn's luxurious bedding. At this price, you can use it and replace it when it gets worn out. I am thinking about getting one for all my kids for their beds for the winter. They are so nice to wrap up in, and if you are worried about soiling the white comforter, I would recommend getting a comfortable duvet cover that can be taken off and washed periodically. For me, I think I will just take mine to the laundry mat when it needs washing and put it in their huge commercial washer. You don't have to do it that often, and it is a minor inconvenience to have this much plush, soft cover night after night. I urge you to go for it! I doubt you would be disappointed.
I've always had down, so was hesitant purchasing the alternative. This comforter was a delight right out of the box. What a beautiful cover (and I'm very particular about the quality of cotton covers!). I just shook it from all sides and it's been great ever since. We've had it on the bed for the past couple weeks and I wouldn't change a thing about it. It's lightweight, but very cozy and fluffy; not some heavy comforter making you too hot and bulky. Keeps us warm for cold nights and very comfortable for summer, too. I like the box stitching and each time I change the bed linens, I give it a gentle shake, which I also had to do with the down ones. It is also very ample in size, covering 10 inches plus on the sides and more on the bottom on our king size bed. Don't hesitate on this one; it's a keeper!! I also like the fact it's machine washable and tumble dry.
The key feature here is the end-to-end box stitching. It ensures the comforter filling stays within the squares and doesn't get shifted towards one end of the comforter.
This comforter is exactly what I was looking for. Cannot use feather comforters due to allergies. The material is luxurious. The weight has substance. Not one of those flimsy comforters, but not too heavy either. I purchased the king-size one--there is approx a 12" overhang on each side, and a nice 18" overhang at the bottom. Plenty of comforter to snuggle into comfortably. It fluffed up nicely after opened and left to air out for a couple hours. I am VERY happy with my purchase.
I love my Hotel Grand Naples 700 Thread Count Medium Down Comforter. I purchased it with the purpose of filling a duvet and it fills the DUVET nicely and is very comfortable.
Great for winter, filling is evenly distributed.
Very happy with my Hotel Grand Naples 700 Thread Count Medium Warmth Down Alternative Comforter. Keeps you very warm and is very comfortable. Great buy.
Although my husband and I are not allergic to down, we didn't want to deal with any prickly feathers, so we went with this down alternative. I compared the price and fill weight of nearly 20 different down alternative comforters (including Lands End and Westin's Heavenly Bed), and decided on this Naples 700TC. It was the only king-sized one that had this high of a thread count for under $100. We love it - it's like having a meringue top on your bed! If I had one (minor) complaint, I would say that the king size is a few inches too short on each side--but I couldn't have ordered it any bigger (if I was getting it for a queen-sized bed, it would have been perfect).
comforter soft, thin for FL nights, BUT not oversized as stated. 3 inches short on each side measuring 87 by 101 inches. Very disappointed since I purposely chose this comforter due to the size. If you want oversize move on from this product.
I have bought probably at least six of the ...Hotel Grand Naples 700 Thread Count Medium Warmth Down Alternative Comforter...this comforter is warm soft and cozy. I would differently say that everyone that I have bought one for absolutely loves their Hotel Grand Naples Comforter..
Fills a DUVET nice and is very comfortable
Medium warmth; perfect for summer. Is well made and the filling seems to be stable. A shake at the end of the bed and filling is fluffed. I have found no flaws. A piece of mud brushed against white fabric came out with warm water on a clean cloth. Should I change colors in bedroom I will purchase again.
This is a high quality comforter. I bought my daughter a king-sized comforter (alternative down as well) at ***** for $59 and it was nice, and this one was $20 more. This one is thicker and has a satiny finish to it. I know it is larger than my daughter's, because I could hardly stuff it in the dryer. (I always use the heat of the dryer for anything I buy now due to bedbug paranoia--and no, didn't see a trace of any insects.) My daughter has a queen-sized bed, and I have a full-sized, but I bought king comforters for both of our beds. It hangs down about 4 inches from the floor on both sides, but at the bottom of the bed, it is at floor level. Just like the picture, I have an extra 12 -15 inches on top to fold down. But, I would rather have a comforter be too big for the bed instead of too small. Yes, I would definitely recommend this comforter!
This was a great buy. I would have had to pay 3x this much for something similar at a big box store. It's VERY comfy, and it is definitely a medium warmth comforter. Keeps me warm at night, but also stays cool to the touch. I would highly recommend this to anyone who tends to get hot when they're under the covers.
Nice and warm, fill stays put and evenly distributed. Fits great on my queen size bed (I ordered a king) price was fantastic and delivery right on time! I had to order the alternative due to allergies and am very satisfied and happy with my purchase.
We are still using this comforter! The stitching keeps the filling in the blocks, so the stuffing stays fluffy and evenly distributed even after many, many washings. Excellent warmth. We use it with a duvet, so we can change the look of the room without investing in comforters each time.
I ordered this comforter as an alternative for someone who has allergies to real down comforters. It is light to medium weight and warmth, and is nice material. Color is not a bright-ultra white but definitely white in color no ivory. For the money, I feel it is a nice comforter and I'm very happy with it. I read the reviews before purchasing, and honestly the negative reviews I read seem to be people who were expecting a very high-end comforter for a bargain price.
Comforter needing to be washed. I used cold water wash and low heat drying. Comforter shrunk about 8 inches across and 8 inches from top to bottom. Mattress now visible. Very disappointing.
I purchased this comforter for the price/thread count. I ordered a King size for my Queen size bed. I like having the extra coverage. At first I didn't want to go with a "Down Alternative" but I saw that it's hypoallergenic and decided to give it a try. I absolutely love it! It's soft and keeps me warm, but not hot. I'm still using it during the summer months. I recommend this product! I am more than satisfied!
I'm very pleased with the Hotel Grand Naples 700 Thread Count Medium Warmth Down Alternative Comforter. This item arrived on time, and packaged very well. I ordered a king size for a queen sized bed. I like that it drapes nicely on the sides and edge of bed. The comforter keeps us warm, and plan to use this all year long. I bought a duvet that was advertised here on Overstock. We are very pleased with how the comforter is made, and how feather light it is on the bed. A very nice investment. I would order another one again if available.
