Down and feather-filled products are packaged tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove this item from its packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours for full loft recovery. In addition, products sealed in plastic packaging sometimes have a disagreeable scent because of concentrated natural fibers. A few hours of airing typically removes the odor.

We recommend that this item is fluffed at least once a week to maintain down distribution.

We bought this and then returned it. It is not the fluffy thing you see in the picture, it's more so a scratchy thin cover with very little padding inside.

Just received the comforter and it seems nice. I think I will be pleased with the purchase although a tad pricey. 5/6/2017 I've now had the comforter for a couple of months. All the feathers/down have moved to the last row of boxes. The rest of the comforter has no feathers/down and I can see this when I hold it up to the light. Now I know why I am cold at night. There is nothing "grand" about it at this point. I've tried to push the feathers back to no avail.

The feathers are all gone after only about a year. It lost feathers continuously and the ends of the feathers would poke out through the comforter. I have tossed it and bought abetter quality comforter.

As soon it was delivered I opened the package and laid it on the guest QUEEN. The sides size was fine, the length was about 6 " too short. The bedspread on this bed is also a KING. The king bedspread is a few inches from the floor on each side from the bed and is about 3" from the foot of the bed. In the picture on Overstocks page it shows the comforter almost to the foot of the bed. The comforter is beautiful. I love the strips and it is a beautiful clean white. We ordered a new box spring and mattress which should be delivered in the next two weeks just before our guest will be arriving. This new bed set will be thicker than the old one we currently now have. I guess I will be heading to *** and buying the same one that is currently on another bed. That fits this queen perfectly. Sorry I will be returning it.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"Does this have ties for a duvet?"

      • A:

NO it does not have ties to attach to a duvet.

      • A:

        no it doesn't' have ties

      • A:

        Sorry no ties.

      • A:

No it doesn't. I use clips for the corners and it works just fine.

      • A:

        No ties for a duvet

      • A:

i published a review on Jan 14, 2017. i peeked into the plastic case, and there were no straps on the corners of this duvet. (Ties are generally on the inside of the duvet COVER - but if the duvet doesn't have small corner straps to anchor the duvet ties to, just use your imagination to correct it, such as clips or stitching bias tape or elastic across the corner, on an angle.). I'd actually had to return this item because the full size physically weighed too much for my mom to maneuver: she's had rotator cuff/shoulder reconstruction. It's a great quality but 6-7lbs to shuffle around with comprised strength just wasn't the right choice for her needs. ps there were no loose feathers nor lack of loft. Merely tumble it around in the dryer on low or air for 1/2 hr should plump it up just fine. enjoy your purchase.

      • A:

No. This is not worth the price - filling is sparse-

"How big is the King? Will it cover a California King?"

      • A:

The king measures approximately 104 inches wide x 88 inches long with 36 ounces of fill

      • A:

It is large enough for our King sized Bed with about a foot hang over on the sides. It is a little heavier than I wanted.

      • A:

        Yes it is wonderful 💕💕

      • A:

no, it is just the right size for my king bed,

      • A:

We have a cal king and the comforter fits the top with a little draped over. Not much, though. Works for us - as long as he's not hogging the covers that night. 😀

      • A:

        Yes it will! Its perfect!

      • A:

It's marginal. I don't have a cal king and there is barely any overhang.

    • Q:

"What exactly is this siberian white consist of?"

      • A:

Siberian white should be goose down. From geese that live in Siberia. Goose down is the fluffy stuff not feathers. Light weight, very insulating, I mean these animals live in a cold climate!

      • A:

There is no such thing as Siberian goose down according to this site. I assume it is poly filled. It is a nice size and there are enough separate pockets to disperse the fill evenly without shifting. I like the cotton cover. There is no such thing as Siberian Goose Down. In other words, Siberia is not and has never been a commercial point of origin for goose down. Siberian Goose Down, or as the name implies, goose down that comes from Siberia or the Siberian Goose, is essentially a myth. So, What is Siberian Goose Down? Most of the worlds goose down comes from China. A much smaller amount (relatively speaking) of goose down originates from Europe, mainly from Poland and Hungary. An even smaller amount of goose down comes from the United States and Canada. This European and North American down is generally considered to be of superior quality, mostly due to the harvesting, sorting, quality standards and sanitizing procedures which are very highly regulated compared to the relatively unregulated practices in China.

    • Q:

"What is the ratio of down vs. feather in this blanket?"

      • A:

Not sure but I absolutely love it.

    • Q:

"Approximately how thick in inches is the comforter? I've read complaints about there not being enough fill. Is it like a down blanket?"

      • A:

I live in Montana. Once the blanket is allowed to loft, it's AMAZING!!! I often have to kick the quilt off because it's too warm!!! Probably lofts to 2 inches and it's very dense with down.

      • A:

Once it's shaken out its lofty, not thin like a blanket - its warm, any thicker and it'd be too hot. I live in New Hampshire, this is the only "blanket" we use during the winter.

      • A:

I agree with Montana! When I first opened it I was scared the other reviewers had been right because it was flat. I spread across bed and beat against the bed from each corner a couple of times before I put the duvet on. It still didn't plump considerably- but some. In the meantime- I guess its been about 6-8 weeks - and just through normal bedmaking and occasionally spreading it out all the way again (I keep it folded across the bottom)- it has plumped up considerably and is very fluffy and warm. Love it! Great deal!

      • A:

It's thick and very warm. Also, it washes beautifully in the washing machine!! This is a great down comforter!!!!

      • A:

not very full but fine for the price! very warm and comfortable, feels just right about an inch and a half thick

      • A:

Definitely give it a few hours to decompress once you take it out of the packaging. We live on the Oregon coast and it's the perfect mix to use year round. I don't think you'd be disappointed if you chose to purchase one. I've had mine just over 5 months and I'm still thrilled with it.

      • A:

I'd have to say not very thick. We live in CA and it is fine for here but not super thick, so I disagree somewhat with others.

      • A:

        plinti of fill. nice

      • A:

Is is like a down blanket. It is not very thick, but extremely warm, especially in a duvet cover. I think it is perfect and does make a bed look "fluffy" despite being a thinner comforter.

      • A:

I have to disagree. I own several down comforters and this compares to a low quality summer weight. It is more like a blanket. I was looking for something more lofty to make my duvet pretty on top of my bed. It lays pretty flat.

      • A:

There is not nearly enough fill...not fluffy at all~ very disappointed!

    • Q:

"What is the fill power of this comforter? Are the baffle boxes completely enclosed, with no places for down to escape to an adjacent box, so down stays in place?"

      • A:

No, but is a nice comforter as a stand alone.

      • A:

The fill is down. Ive been using this comforter for several months, it's proven to be an excellent choice. The down has stayed in its place with the exception of one corner baffle where the fill has moved to the corners edge. I'd buy it again and recommend this comforter without hesitation.

      • A:

Great quality for the price. Warm and light and keeps it shape. Would recommend it to my friends.

      • A:

The baffle boxes are large but seem to be contained. However the amount of down in the top and bottom seems to be much more than in the center. Almost completely flat in the center.

      • A:

No down does not stay in one place. Nice comforter, but I wouldn't buy it again

      • A:

The baffle boxes are all secure, all you need to do is shake and fluff regularly. We are very pleased with our comforter.

      • A:

Fill power on this one is 600: twin 23 oz.; full/queen 30 oz. fill; king 36 oz fill (I would purchase a king for a queen bed). Baffle boxes are enclosed. If you want more loft in a down comforter, look at the ones with higher fill power, like 700.

      • A:

Not sure...just can't remember, however, I have owned several comforters and this one is the best....ordered the lightweight duvet color (in white) so will be easy to keep comforter clean (using just a little clorox or oxi clean) I have a queen bed right now...but, I ordered the king comforter...was not necessary...but my other bed (which is in storage presently) is a king...love having the king hang over both sides of queen size bed so I didn't have to buy a bed skirt! 😅 In my opinion....you will not be dissatisfied!!

      • A:

I agree with Douglas in terms of the baffle boxes. It is lovely weighted and keeps us warm without being too heavy. Would definitely buy another one. Chris

      • A:

It advertises 600 fill power. I do not think it is. I returned mine. I owned a store and had training in purchasing down items. Basically the higher the fill power the better the down- the fluffier. However if you have a heavy cover it will weight down and flatten any good down product. So look for a high quality cotton casing also. And to be fair that may be the case with this one, however they advertise a 500 thread count cotton casing. The number of ounces in the comforter determines the summer or winter comfort level. More ounces of down = warmer comforter.

"Does this have a way to secure duvet corners?"

      • A:

I am not sure; I purchase as a gift....

      • A:

There's nothing on the comforter itself, it's just rectangular. Most duvet covers have ties in the corners to tie around each corner of a comforter though.

      • A:

Is no way to secure duvet corners, but is a good comforter.

      • A:

No, I didn't see any at all but it stayed in place.

      • A:

No, sorry to say it doesn't have a way to secure duvet corners.

      • A:

No, it doesn't, but you can easily stitch something onto the fabric to help anchor it. It is a little thin, but still very nice in a duvet cover.

      • A:

        Unfortunately no

      • A:

Not sure about your question but I have a duvet cover over mine and corners are just fine. I will add my Duvet cover is older so if you are asking about a new design in which the corners maybe different then I can not help.

      • A:

it doesn't and it slides a bit. Fits very well cotton duvet from *** ($**), love the combination, very warm and very affordable

      • A:

No, there are no ties on corners.

    • Q:

"Is this Siberian down cruelty free?"

      • A:

I am not sure what you mean by "cruelty free". Did the bird die? Yes and that would be much more humane than plucking down from a live bird. Was the bird killed soley for it's feathers? No. Goose is sold in stores all over the world.

      • A:

Siberian ducks are of course communists and because lefties do not protect human rights as a matter of policy you can guarantee these Siberian feathers are a bit weak and lazy! But a very good overall value for a communist loaf!

      • A:

Unfortunately that's not information that was provided to us. I can say that this is an incredibly warm comforter & a great value for the price. Also please note that this is made in China.

    • Q:

"how far over the sides does a queen size comforter fit?"

      • A:

about 12 inches on each side

      • A:

Can't answer. Our comforter is a KING size. We are happy with it, as it is generously sized and has a good 12" drop on both sides of our bed.

      • A:

Approx. 3" on each side overhang.

      • A:

        12 inches sides and bottom

      • A:

We bought a King size in this style and it is about 1 ft. over each side of the bed. If you want it to drop close to the floor on each side, buy a King for your Queen as you will want to bundle up in it. By the way, this is a fabulous deal because the last comforter we bought from Overstock was made and imported from Switzerland and cost 3-times as much on sale; and had a lower thread count. The finest comforters range upwards to a $**** +. Although it was plush and gorgeous, and had a higher loft than this one, you can't beat this deal on Siberian white down. However, is this down in fact Siberian? and it was made in China. Also, it does not specify what type of down it is filled with-goose or duck (goose is superior). I don't think these details matter if this is your price range and you just want a nice comforter. When purchasing, I would also order a duvet with it. We got the Eddie Bauer duvet from Overstock with buttons on the bottom and are very pleased with this overall purchase.

    • Q:

"Which is best, goose or duck down?"

      • A:

        Siberian white down.

      • A:

I can only speak for goose down. Never tried duck down or lambswool. Goose down is wonderful in colder weather, but has many pointed ends to the feathers. Sometimes they poke thru the fabric in the comforter, and many times feathers come completely out of the comforter. Using a good duvet cover helps contain the feathers that escape and shield from the pointed ends. As far as cleaning, either dry-clean (expensive!) or wash on gentle, hot water setting in washing machine. Dry completely either by air or low setting for long, long time (a few cycles). I've always washed mine at home in washing machine with oxi-clean type product and regular laundry detergent. Key is to get it completely dry and then re-fluff it. It all depends on your preference and how much you spend on comforter. I have a $*** King size comforter and I've never had a problem with it by washing at home. It still is as fluffy and beautiful as the day I bought it. My suggestion is to do some research if you are considering goose down. There are various weights for different times of year, and volumes of feather-fill to select. Getting the correct size, weight, and fill will prove a successful purchase, regardless of how you clean it. Hope this helps...

      • A:

If your pocket book is speaking, duck. There is more to the story as few products are pure down of any kind, usually a mix of down and feathers or chop.

      • A:

        Down is best

      • A:

All I can tell you is that this particular comforter is wonderful. Nice fill, warm when it should be and cool when it should be. Never hot or cold with this comforter. All season comfort.I highly recommend it.

      • A:

Goose absolutely! Check out luxury ski clothes, comforters, etc. if fill is down, it is always goose. Also avoid any feathers, the more down, the fluffier and warmer. Feathers are not soft and have little loft so not warm. 100% goose down is quite expensive. Duck is yuck, seriously.

      • A:

The difference is down (the fluffy soft part) vs. FEATHER. Feather (the quill plus the attached down) is not specific to the fowl nor region indigiginous to the fowl) but everything to do with the manufacturing process. If you're concerned about the rearing and care of the birds look for the RDS certification_description red for care of endangered and proper care, feeding, housing etc of birds for market. Duvets keep the down comforter clean from our own use. Feathers contain lanolin and that may produce natural yellowed spots. Unnessary_damaging to use bleaching products. I wash mine at home, high load, about 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar, 1/2 cup of liquid detergent. When water starts pouring into machine I place the comforter inside, gentle cycle. A second rinse/spin cycle helps ensure no soap residue remains. When drying I'd suggest AIR/gentle or low tumble. Put 2 or 3 tennis balls in the dryer to HELP keep the comforter loose [not clump/ball up] and they aid in fluffing the comforter. I usually do at least 2 but more so 3 dry cycles. Don't use heat please you'll damage the down. Look at the specs/consumer tags before buying: many say 'down' but questioning this may show 75pcnt down -- the remaining percentage are feathers -' those quill_"pokey parts" that come out of the comforter. A DOWN COMFORTER -- 100% DOWN DOESN'T HAVE QUILLS. Mine is over 15 years old and yet in ideal condition. If unsure of the description, just post an inquiry OR CALL OVERSTOCK and they'd be happy to help you enjoy your purchase. I'm searching for replacement duvet covers --- they don't last as long as a good quality RDS cert 100% DOWN comforter. Price doesnt always mean better. Enjoy. Happy holy-days.

      • A:

To James B. Above (first answer): if "it has many pointed ends to the feathers" it's not down, it's feathers as you say. Down does not have any quills at all. Very frustrating when you think you are buying down but the manufacturer fills the comforter with a mix of down and feathers. Feathers are WAY cheaper than down. You get what you pay for I guess. After some good research I have found that if I don't pay at least $*** for a King size down comforter then I know I'm not getting a 100% down only comforter. Also, if it says Dry Clean Only that means it has been treated with starch to stay fluffy instead of just sewn correctly. Starch wears off over time and then comforter won't be as fluffy anymore. When sewn correctly no starch is necessary and you can wash it and dry at home, which I personally prefer, and it will stay fluffy forever.

"will the king size comforter work with a California King bed?"

      • A:

Yes, it does, but only 3 in hang off each side of the bed. If you lay it the other way it comes up 2 ft short from the top of the bed.

      • A:

If you want total coverage on the sides, then no. I have a king and bought the king and because it's a deep mattress, it doesn't cover as much as I would like. Still love the comforter, but wish it was larger. Hope that helps!

"Hi, Does this come with a duvet cover to put over the actual down comforter? Thank you."

      • A:

Hello, no unfortunately it does not come with a duvet cover to put over the actual down comforter. You have to purchase your own which is what I did.

"If it does not specify goose down is it in reality duck down?"

      • A:

No, it is definitely goose down.

    • Q:

"What percent of fill is Down?"

      • A:

According to the label it's at least 75% down. I bought a king size for a queen bed in my spare bedroom.

      • A:

This comforter states it is at least 75% down. It is an all season comfortable. I am very happy with it.

      • A:

they are not great, barely any fill. i would not purchase

      • A:

I am not exactly sure the fill count but it is very nice. I would buy it again. Very comfy!!

      • A:

There is no % info on the tag. It feels soft and there are no sharp feather quills poking out. The one thing we noticed when it was new, was that it was noisy. A few tumbles in the dryer with some fabric softener sheets made the noise go away. I'd buy it again.

"How do you clean the comorter??"

      • A:

It shows that this is dry clean only.

      • A:

You can wash them to get all the stains out. I take mine to the laundry matt. That is what I do but it has to be dryed on low so it doesn't burn. If you let it dry very slowiy the down fluffs back up nicely.

      • A:

I have washed mine and it turned out fine. Some feathers might escape, so clean the lint filter in the dryer afterward. It may take several cycles to get completely dry.

But they wash like a dream
