Wonderful sheets! Purchased Ivory 1st, then sage. These sheets are great but do need a "breaking in time" as is the case with most high TC bedding. Because they are thick heavy sheets you really need to wash them probably a dozen cycles to start feeling just how soft they become. I have similar quality white sheets, also Egyptian cotton, they have been washed multiple times the past yr & now are sooooo!!!! soft. What you're paying for is the density of weaving, that's what "thread count" means, to those not accustomed to this they may seem heavy & even a little scratchy at 1st. Once broken in, you'll love them & sleep so well you'll never go back and they will last for many yrs, they are an investment. RE: wrinkling issue, 1st they are cotton, 2nd launder as recommended, 3rd dry top & bottom sheets separately with a tennis ball in the dryer (old trick) that keeps them from "balling up", 4th fold & stack nicely; this should smooth out most of the wrinkles. I alternate my linens, touch up top sheet/ pillow cases with iron & my bed always looks & feels WONDERFUL!!! Overstock is great, prices can't be beat & customer service is fab. Invest in these linens, you'll be glad you did (WHAT'S MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR SLEEP?)
I originally bought a set of these sheets in Cal King Medium Blue. I loved them so much that I bought two sets of the matching King pillowcases, and another sheet set and two more pillowcase sets in the Sage color. The 1500 TC pillowcase colors match the 1500 TC sheets perfectly, and are as pictured. Both Medium Blue sheets and pillowcases are a saturated medium blue color, although the Sage color is slightly less saturated than the picture on my monitor shows. Both Med Blue and Sage feel and look to be very expensive and high-quality. The sheets are very deep, and easily fit my 14 inch mattress with a mattress pad underneath, with room to spare. But People, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH before you buy high Thread Count sheets. Don't give low reviews, or waste your money, simply because you were ignorant of what you were ordering. High TC sheets start out being heavy and a little stiff when you first open the package, but they soften up by washing and using them. The higher the TC, the heavier the sheets, so these sheets are heavy. Lower thread count sheets will be initially more pliable and more "airy" feeling, because there are fewer threads per square inch, so they actually are more airy since there is more air between threads. If you like light weight, airy sheets, get low TC or cotton-blend sheets. Initial softness in cotton sheets depend on the quality of the cotton used, and whether they have been pre-softened before you buy them. Having your sheets pre-softened means that they are usually more expensive, because of the extra time and processes involved. These sheets have not been pre-softened, so we are able to buy them cheaper than you would otherwise. Also note that all cotton sheets, especially higher TC sheets, WILL WRINKLE and take more time to dry! If you have multiple sets, which I recommend, fold the other set when it comes out of the dryer, putting your folded pillowcases between the bottom and top sheets so the weight naturally presses them, and put the set away. When you take them out to change sheets, the folded set will have lost most of the wrinkles. By alternating sheet sets, and folding the unused set, you shouldn't have to iron your sheets. If you are still unsatisfied with your minor wrinkles, or if you only have one set, you can iron your sheets if it really bugs you. These particular sheets are beautiful and have held up well after washing. They are exactly what you would expect from 1500 TC sheets, will last forever, and are far less expensive on the big O than elsewhere.
I previously purchased a set of 1200 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and wanted a spare set, so I purchased these ones expecting to be a bit dissapointed after the weight and feel of my other set.
When these sheets arrived the first thing I noticed was the hemstich detail and the color - which is amazing! It is actually much richer than shown in the photo. My husband and I love the color so much, we have decided to paint it on our bedroom walls which are currently a red I have loved for years. This color is not ordinary terracotta, but a redder richer, deeper color. (Not at all orangy) Very lovely with my Asian themed bedding set.
These sheets have just a hint of a sheen and are very study. I love the extra deep pockets - we have a pillow top mattress with a pad on it and these sheets fit over everything with no hassle.
I love the feel of the sheets against my skin and we have found that we don't need a blanket when the evenings are cooler; still the sheets breathe and keep us cool on warmer nights.
Compared to the 1200 thread count set, I honestly see very little difference and honestly I prefer these because of the color - so the original set has been demoted to extra set status.
I am glad overstock gives us the options to write a review on items purchased because 90 percent of my ordering is online and I do pay attention to the reviews, in fact a bad review if too many of the same complaint makes my decision on my purchase. As far as these sheets, they are wonderful! I remember reading reviews and the only thing a few people commented on in any negative way is that they wrinkle, I was thinking to myself you have got to be kidding me!! We just moved into a home and trying to watch money, my brother had given me his California King bed, which meant buying sheets, comforter the whole nine yards! Knowing that a good sheet at that size was going to run me at least 80 dollars, I went to overstock.com. I got two sets of these sheets for under the price of one set at other stores. The color matched perfectly with the picture on the site. As far as wrinkling, well I washed them before I put them on my bed, they did not get wrinkled until I laid on them, lol
Thank you again overstock.com! I will continue to buy from you!
These are the second set I have ordered--a different color this time.I like these for the price and they are good for certain uses--mostly if you use more than one sham. They are lightweight, so they would not be very good as your major sham. But they do well for the "behind" sham. But one word to the wise. They need major ironing once they have been washed and they do not iron easily. I don't mind because I use them as the "behind the sham" sham, but if you hate ironing--even on the occasional times when you need to do it, these are not for you.
