I didn't know what to expect, since I usually prefer to purchase 100% cotton matelasse coverlets for my bed. But this one feels exactly, if not softer that my last cotton coverlet. The weight is perfect for me - I expect to be able to sleep under for 9 out of 12 months of the year. I live in the Hudson Valley of NY State.
Since I do not have a dust ruffle or box spring, I purchased a King size set so that it would extend a sufficient length over the sides of my Queen size bed. It hangs about 17"-20" over the sides and bottom of the bed, depending on how accurately I center it. This works perfectly for me.
I will definitely purchase another like this for my bed in the city.
This quilt is soft to the touch, very much like a woven cotton. The stitching and quality of the thread looks excellent, we'll see how it holds up over use and washings. It's light weight yet comfortable on a chilly night with a blanket. I purchased a king (Ivory) and the size is ample, the drop on each side is 22" and up to 38" at the foot of the bed. This extra length allows me to tuck and wrap the spread around our bed pillows at the head of the bed mimicking shams. I may not even use the matching shams. I would compare this quilt to a much more expensive product elsewhere. For those of you debating on what shade/color the spread actually is go to your local Sherwin Williams and pick up color sample SW 7013, Ivory Lace. My spread is a perfect match to this color sample. Hope this is helpful.
We wanted a non-down comforter for our bed, as with dog(s) machine washing is easier. I was very pleased at how large it was- extra length for a King size bed, and it was soft to the touch. Yes, exactly 3 nights after we had this, one of my dogs threw up on it. It was on the striped side. Thank you, Teagan. I soaked it with stain remover and stuffed it into my front loader and then the dryer. It came out as good as new. Now it's on the bed again- on the blue side so as to avoid stains from the inevitable.
Perfect color yellow I've been looking for, even though the color choices listed it as gold, to me gold would have more brown tone in it. It's a nice light weight for summer and has very pretty quilting stitches. I washed it before putting it on the bed and it washed beautifully keeping its color, and dried without wrinkles. For me it is the Perfect Choice.
This quilt fits a king very well. It is very light weight, but great for the warmer months. You can use it without a blanket, throw the shams on in the morning and the bed is made. It will also fit in a normal size washer. If you are looking for a comforter with a lot of filling or weight this is not it. For the price, a very good buy.
Read previous negative reviews and was plesantly surprised. Negative reviews are addressed as follows: THICKNESS: not thick or thin, adequate thickness for use as a bedspread. Its does not look like its a pillow when placed on the bed. Again, I believe its intended use is as a white bedspread due to intricate pattern. I place it over my comforter when I make the bed and looks amazing - just like in the picture. True comforters are measured in "ounces of fill" this one is adequate for use as a lightweight comforter though I would not reccomend since it wrinkles easily if used as a comforter for daily use. COLOR: white is a true bright white not ivory or cream. QUALITY: Its polyester but very soft. there are no smells. Again, I purchsed for use as a decorative bedspread so I will dry clean it and not risk ruining pattern or accidentlaly shrink by washing in water. VERY DELICATE: one review stated it was falling apart by making the bed and just pulling, Not true, maybe they were very rough and broke the stitching when pulling the fabric or the one they received was damaged. It can be handled normally without damaging the fabric or stictching.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. Again my intent was to use it as a bedspread and not comforter. I have been searching desperatly for a True White bedspread that was very rich looking and inviting at a reasonable price. I found it in the Carmen white comforter. Comparable comforters other online stores M***ys and P*****ry B**n were $200 - $400 price range and ruched instead of diamonmd pattern - this pattern when found was closer to $400 in other stores.
I have looked for a long time for a bedspread for our queen bed. I didn't want a comforter set where a bedskirt was necessary. I wanted a bedspread that covered mattress and box spring and sideboards of the bed frame. This spread fits the bill perfectly. It does not go to the floor because we have an especially high mattress but that's okay with me. It's not too heavy but heavy enough for added warmth in the winter. It will be fine for summer use as well. It is sturdy and well constructed. The pattern even makes it easy to make the bed each day, lining up the edge of the pattern to the edges of the bed. It is well made, pretty, true to the color in the picture on the website, and large enough to generously cover both the bed and the pillows. At last I don't need to have pillow shams to make my bed look finished.
This comforter set is beautiful! Looks just like the picture. The exterior fabric is a little stiff feeling but the underside of the comforter reminds me of fine crushed velvet and is very soft and smooth against your skin. Not too hot and not too cold with the a/c running ( currently August in NY). My husband loves it too! This set has the matching shams,3 accent pillows and bed skirt. We bought a jersey sheet set in white to compliment it. Love it! My favorite bedroom set!
Absolutely love it! I have 2 large dogs who sleep on the bed and live in the country, so dirty paws are a way of life. The brown hides the dirt fairly well, and brushes off easily. Also, it is machine washable so I can throw it in each week. No shrinking or fading, looks fantastic even after 5 washes. Can't see any difference with the shams that haven't been washed yet. Nice weight. I have a light blanket under for colder nights but will need nothing with it for the summer.
Aside from washing and staining issues I've had with other comforters that tear easily from my dogs' nails when they are rolling around foolishly. This fabric feels strong and, combined with the stitching, I don't see nails tearing through for a VERY long time.
Absolutely love it! No complaints and would buy another any time.
This bedding is by far my new favorite. The quality and look if the Belgian Washed Linen is absolutely amazing. It's comparable - if not better - to similar Linen bedding you find at Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, West Elm etc. - and it's at least half the price!! I'm always very particular about my bedding and look for high quality pieces, so I was hesitant to purchase this at first but I'm so glad I did! I usually buy overpriced expensive duvet covers, like the Georgina bedding from anthro (almost $400 reg. price!) - which is beautiful but extremely heavy and not comfortable at all. This is lightweight and the linen is soft. Will definitely be purchasing another set in a different color!
Between cats n kids, needed somethingthat could withstand repeated washing. Those puffy fiberfill comforters just bunched up n got lumpy. Opted for a simple quilt with a modern stitch pattern that could be dressed up with pillows n throws. Ordered a king for our extra-high queen. Perfect! Looks clean n sophisticated all by itself.
This is a great comforter! We bought it for my daughter's "big girl room" and couldn't be happier. It's made of high-quality, soft material, and the rosettes look even better in real life. It is a dusty shade of pink (not bubblegum pink), so it works well with her vintage decor.
LOVE this bedding, it is beautiful. I'm using it as base decorative bedding with a duvet cover and bought both Khaki and Blue. The blue is not a grey/slate blue, nor a bright aqua, it is a muted aqua/turquoise/teal. I also ordered a Khaki, although it is lighter and more yellow undertone than I thought, it will still work with the duvet cover I'm using it with. I'm excited to put them all together!
This is a great comforter. Its is velvety soft on the top and super fluffy and soft on the bottom. It is very warm If you don't want a super warm comforter don't get it. It keeps in the heat. Perfect for me I like a cold room and a warm bed
I ordered a King Duvet in the Taupe color. I washed it, as soon as, I got it out the box. No need to iron.. the puckered diamonds lay perfectly. Now four nights in, still no wrinkles and remains a crisp-looking. The taupe color reminds me of sand dunes which looks great with my white sheets, teal and brown throw pillows. Husband loves it, too... he said it is classy and we may need another color for the winter season ;)
I bought this burgundy duvet cover, a 630 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet, and another 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheet from overstock. Of the three, this one feels like its in a whole new class of smoothness. This duvet cover is smoother than any sheet/duvet cover I have ever felt, there are no stripes on it, the brand is Luxor, the color looks like the burgundy in the pic, and the shams have a crease where the pillow inserts in middle of the sheet on one side. Alot of people here are complaining of the shams, I don't see anything wrong with them. As for the actual duvet cover... Wow!!! It feels like a luxurious satin sheet, but has the crispness and coolness of a high quality cotton. So good infact I went to a department store to feel other 600 count sheets to confirm the legitmacy of my other purchases. Nothing in the store, except the the fancy 200 dollar 1000 thread counts felt quite as nice as these. This is a must buy, I have no idea where these other reviewers are getting their information or what sheet they received. All I know is I purchased 3 sheets/duvet covers at one time from overstock and this one could run smoothness circles around the other two.
Great, lightweight, good quality, looks classy. I bought the grey Merit Linens Premium Pleated Bed Skirt Dust Ruffle on overstock as well and it matches great.
I will say I have a full sized bed and I don't think it would be big enough for a queen.
I ordered this duvet cover because I did want to pay the expensive designer prices I had seen online. For the money this is perfect and the neutral color I ordered is true to the description. It is very soft and was delivered quickly.
Love this comforter. It is so soft, inside and out, probably the softest bedding I have ever owned. Warm rating about a medium, keeps me warm but not on very cold nights when it drops down to the low 30's & 20's. The style is gorgeous, the pintucks with the velvet look really stands out. I got the silver, it is a soft dove grey color with a little shimmer to it. Haven't washed it yet so don't know how that will do. I have cats and a dog so I have a throw I put on it before the animals get on it to go to bed. I have noticed some pulled thread already from the animals though, so I would classify this as somewhat delicate, be careful if you have pets. Size wise I can't say, I usually get a king size for a queen bed because I like longer bedding and that is what I did here.
This is a true white. Simple but beautiful. I love it for the simplicity of it. As you can see it looks good paired with any color. I have it with blues and grays and a wood headboard and it looks great.
This duvet is so soft I really feel like I am at a bed and breakfast when I make my bed. There's no sign of pilling. It fits my full/queen comforter to a tee. I plan to buy another once I was this one just to be sure it comes out of the wash as lovely as it went in.
I purchased this set in both white and navy. The duvet cover does indeed come with a zipper, at least on both sets I received. I actually like this, as I have a down comforter that sometimes leaks feathers. And the design of the zipping is well done and not easily visible when zipped.
However, the pillow shams on the other hand, I don't particularly like for two reasons: 1. They don't fully cover a standard pillow (see picture of the back). Also, the frilly outside border is more prominent than in the item photos in my opinion.
However, I still give this item four stars given its price point. I'm transferring the pillow shams to a guest room and the duvet cover is replacing a $150 high thread count Egyptian cotton set that I have been using for years. It really is more comfortable. I'm glad I gave it a shot.
Was hesitant because of mixed reviews. I ordered charcoal and it is a rich look. I haven't washed it yet, may only dry clean it because it is so lovely. It is warm and great for winter. I am happy with the quality. If they had a bed skirt, I would buy that too.
Used this to cover a winter set and it looks amazing. My bed is black so the blue compliments well. It's very dark. Material is nice and soft to the touch. Not cheap and thin. It isn't see thru( one of my main concerns and fits my comforter perfectly. Will definitely buy another
It's an attractive set but not as thick as it looks in the ad. It will make a nice summer bed covering. I saw in previous reviews the bed skirt was cheaply made.... they are correct. It is most likely nothing I will ever use.
I bought this on sale so I feel I got what I paid for, if I paid full price I would have sent it back.
I love the blue color! The quality is excellent and the fact it’s larger than most duvets is a real plus. I have washed and dried the set several times. It still looks great! No regrets here!! Also it looks great with my Echelon Washed Belgium Linen Sheets purchased on Overstock earlier!!
I love this bedspread, so nice! It looks nice, full and plush. My only suggestion is that you order up if you like bedspreads to meet the floor. I have a king bed and could do that. I need at least another foot on each side, I knew this ahead of ordering since I always have this problem. I am now looking for a pretty bedskirt. I still rate this a five stare review as it is much nicer than most chenille bedspreads out there, especially for this money. It's really lovely on the bed.
This is really a beautiful, comfortable and a very high quality duvet cover set. The smooth cotton sateen feels rich to the touch without being too heavy. I bought matching Sheet set in this design as well. Comes with tabs in the corners to hold the comforter in place and button Closures. I also ended up buying the comforter from this company (southshore fine linens) as the comforter matches the exact dimensions of the duvet cover set. Holds up very well after washing. I originally bought this for my guest bedroom but after opening the duvet cover, i ended up keeping it for my room. Very happy with the purchase. Will purchase the blue color as well!
I have been searching for a solid colored comforter for the past few years and finally found this one. I am a cold natured person so the fact that this is made with polyester helps keep me very warm at night. The polyester fabric also means that it is easy to clean any dirt that my pets may bring with them from out side. It's easy to wash and dry and even easier to put back on the bed when I make it up.
I bought this for a newly set up guest bedroom. The furniture is antique, and this comforter set fit this motif. The bed is full size, and sets high off the ground...., but since I also bought a thick, 4 inch mattress topper, I bought a queen size comforter set for the full size bed. It was perfect. I ordered the cream color, because I wanted to stay neutral. My walls are 2 shades of mint green. The pillows look fantastic, and the puckers in the comforter are very cool. I looked at a lot of sets, and this one really caught my eye. It looks fantastic on the bed, and I'm giddy over this purchase. The price was right for a 7 piece set...I would surely recommend this set. It looks elegant, and looks like it would cost a lot more. I often order from overstock, because they have so many choices at great prices...I have never been disappointed.
No reviews on this when I bought it, so I was a little concerned. However, it was the only low priced solid white duvet in cotton. I am well pleased with the quality, size, make, fabric. No complaints - just like the one at Porto Fino resort in Belize. It's for the beach vaca themed guest room. Now I need all the accessories Overstock!
This is a beautiful, expensive looking & feeling duvet cover. Fabric has a beautiful sheen & soft drape.. The duvet & sham (I got twin size w/ one sham) are well constructed. Others have noted the willow green being a bit different from what is pictured. I would describe it as a light, sagey green that is a bit brighter and less grayish toned than many ¿sage greens.¿ It is a nice, neutral color that would go with just about anything. You will need to press duvet & sham/s before using as there are significant creases from being folded, plus you¿ll need to press out the flanges that are shmooshed & wrinkly so they¿ll be nicely squared off. The shams are the type that open across the middle of the back (unlike some others that open on the side and have buttons). The hem stitching on the duvet goes on 3 sides (not across the top, where pillows would cover it anyway) of the ¿top side.¿ The top end is where the button closure is The underside is plain, without the hem stitching; there are two potential looks with this duvet ¿ with or without the hem stitching. When I need to wash mine, I intend to launder it in warm water and will always dry it on my drying rack (away from sunlight to keep from bleaching it by the sun). Doing so will prolong the life of it greatly, as being beaten in the dryer is hard on all things. This is my first experience w/ a duvet, but I think I¿ll love it because I love the flexibility of putting a heavy quilt inside or something light for warmer weather, and being able to launder the outer cover. I just read last week that vapors from dry cleaning are potentially unhealthy, so I love being able to wash the duvet cover and getting to protect blankets from dust and body oils, etc. I will note that getting the blanket & quilt inside is quite the chore, but I don't mark it against this duvet: I think it's just the nature of the beast, as they say. Getting the blankets down in there is quite a task. There may be an easier way to do it, but I struggled quite a bit to get mine in. Also, if a person is looking for that crisp, perfectly neat look, I don't think a duvet cover would be a good choice for them because it just has that slightly rumpled look. Sort of European. I am fine with it, but just want to make that point to someone who has never used a duvet cover. I put my willow duvet w/ an ivory colored bed skirt and it looks beautiful. Understated elegance.
Just got my comforter in the mail today, absolutely love it. Currently redoing my room with an anthropology look, I was hoping to find something similar to the Georgina Duvet without spending so much and this is perfect and just what I was looking for. I was so thankful it was fluffy enough just as I wanted. I got it in ivory and it was just right. Also, I liked that the flowers weren't all bent out of shape and messed up looking when I pulled it out of the packaging.
Got this on a flash sale and what a deal. Bought the white in queen and it fits true to size without hanging down low on the sides of the bed. This did come quite wrinkly but most came out in the steam cycle of my dryer. I don't think it will ever be completely wrinkle free because of the gathered material even though it is polyester. As someone said earlier it is very soft. This is so much prettier than the lookalike comforters at ****. Those had too many pleats.. The pillow was completely white on the otherside if you don't like the color or design. With the white comforter the flowers were stitched in black. Mine did not have a smell even though it was made in China.
