"Does this mattress cover go on like a sheet or is it just flat on top of the bed"
There isn't anything I dislike about this pad/topper - it is extremely soft and large enough to fit over my other mattress pad without fighting to get the corners to stretch - so it can be put on bed by one person.

Pros: This pad generously fits my king mattress. The down baffle covers to the edge and it easily wraps around under the mattress. It is well constructed, good stitching and I like the spacing of the baffles keeping the down in place. It is filled with goose down so it is soft with no feathers poking through. Cons: It is not as thick as I had hoped it would be. If you are looking for a mattress pad that works like a down mattress topper, this is not for you. It is a very nice mattress pad. Just don't expect it to remedy a tired mattress.

There is nothing that I've found that sleeps as nice as goose down (mattress pad and comforter) combined with high thread count cotton sheets. This mattress pad while not thick was added to my new mattress purchase. Sleeps nice & not too warm. Excellent!
