have purchased 1000 ct egyptian cotton sheets from overstock in the past and am disappointed in this set. these sheets were more like 400 to perhaps 600 ct in softness and thickness. in addition i found them to be somewhat skimpy in size. i would not buy them again nor recommend them to others.

  • Not quite up to par
    Verified Purchase

These are the scratchiest 1000-thread counts I've ever encountered, which I presume is why the price is so reasonable. I expect these will soften with use but I still would have preferred a softer texture from the start, as is achieved by other high-thread-count sheets. Pros: deep fitted pocket fits my sleep number mattress + 4 inch memory foam topper. The color I ordered (stone/taupe) is beautiful. Cons: unpleasant texture

  • Too small for King size bed
    Verified Purchase

These will not fit an 18 inch deep mattress. They may fit a mattress less than 12 inches. These sheets are very good quality, and we appreciate the thickness, and softness of the sheets but we don't appreciate the sheet slipping off the mattress during a sleep.

  • Very nice!
    Verified Purchase

These sheets are very high quality and the color is gorgeous. I bought the stone color sheets, king size. The only issue I have is that they could be about 1 or 2 inches DEEPER since I have a tall mattress. Otherwise I really love these sheets.

  • Came with a hole in them
    Verified Purchase

These are nice sheets, but for a sheet set over $$%^, it shouldn't arrive with a hole in it where they didn't catch the corner seam. Mine did. About 2 inches long along the corner seam is wide open and started fraying when I washed them. They're also not as soft as other 1000 count sheets I've purchased from overstock.

  • So far so good...
    Verified Purchase

I have to wonder if some of the people reviewing these sheets are actually receiving/reviewing the same product. One person says, "these were too heavy - like canvas! Not good for warm climates," and right after or before that, someone said, "these were so flimsy and lightweight, there's no way they are 1000 thread count!" Another example was a reviewer who said, "these were so scratchy out of the package!" Right next to that was, "these were so silky smooth, right out of the package!" But the best one is, "these are way too shiny to be Egyptian Cotton sateen" followed by, "these are not even shiny lilke real Egyptian Cotton sateen should be!" I would just like to clear these up, assuming we are, in fact getting the same sheets. I just received mine (king size, white.) Out of the package, they actually did feel silky smooth on one side, less so on the other. I immediately washed them in cold, normal cycle, then dried them. My dryer setting was "more dry" so they did come out with the typical wrinkles expected from a high heat tumble of heavy cotton sheeting. They feel incredibly soft - still, one side (the finished side of the fitted sheet, the side of the flat sheet that will touch skin, as well as the outer sides of the pillow cases) is silky smooth with a dull sheen, and the other side is not as silky smooth with no sheen. Also, to those who gasp at the fact that the sheets are made in China and, therefore, couldn't be Egyptian Cotton, that is an INACCURATE statement. Part of my college design courses included Textiles, and the term, "Egyptian Cotton" refers to the fibers, themselves - the COTTON, which is from Egypt. Manufacturers all over the world use Egyptian cotton so, for example, a more expensive set of sheets I purchased last year were made in Italy. They are still sold as Egyptian Cotton sheets, made in Italy. I gave these sheets 4 stars instead of 5 because I do see that, out of the packaging, the end threads weren't trimmed off sufficiently, so I did that myself - a measure I didn't have to take when I purchased the $700 Egyptian Cotton sheets made in Italy. But, snipping off a few threads was well worth the savings on these. I am curious to see how they will wear over the months, and if, in fact, they do pill (one of my pet peeves,) I'll be sure to adjust my review rating.

The sheets were everything they purported to be. I have a sleep number bed with a 6 inch topper and they fit very nicely. They're very well constructed, I was so pleased I ordered another set.

  • Sheets that fit!
    Verified Purchase

I have searched long and hard for sheets to fit my king sized bed. I need sheets with deep pockets as the mattress is custom made and just a bit bigger than others. I was slowly going mad and decided I would forever have to put up with split sheets, rolling sheets and general frustration. Finally, I saw these sheets with 18 inch pocket. Not only do they fit, I have to tuck in the sheets! Never had that before. Plus the sheets feel so luxurious. They are thick and smooth. Feels great on my skin. Love, love love these new sheets. Wish I had discovered them many years ago.

I love a good sheet and this is a great sheet set. We have an extra thick mattress with 4 inch memory foam on top and the deep pockets on the fitted sheet fit perfectly. My husband especially likes the weight to this sheet. I noticed that it keeps a nice temperature while sleeping. I absolutely love this sheet set and would buy many more if I could afford to. You can't go wrong with these.

  • Long time high thread count sheet user

As the title implies, I've been buying high thread-count sheets for years now. When you first buy a pair of high thread-count sheets, sure, they're heavy, but they shouldn't be overly stiff as these sheets are. And with washing, they get softer over time. I have sheets from about 6 years ago, that, while they are getting a bit worn now, are probably the softest sheets ever, and they were like that when I took them out of the package. These are probably a double ply sheet. They're very stiff and yes, heavy, but it's like wearing a canvas blanket. I've had them for about six months now and they haven't really softened up at all, like I hoped they would. I don't know who you're trying to fool, Overstock, but it isn't me. You used to have great sheets, but not anymore. These are cast-offs.

  • Go ahead and splurge...you won't be disappointed

We purchased this sateen sheet set in Chocolate, and we are very pleased with them. The color is deep, rich, and has an elegant luster, and they are very well made. The sheets came out of the dryer virtually wrinkle-free (I followed the washing instructions provided). They feel smooth and silky, almost like a satin finish but not quite as slippery--super luxurious. Don't pay 3X the price at the home store--these sheets are a wonderful value and you will not be disappointed.

  • Good quality, poor fit
    Verified Purchase

I love the feel and quality of these sheets. Based on this, I would buy another set. They do not, however, fit well on my California King sized bed. Every week it's a dreadful task of trying to stretch the fitting bottom sheet across the bed. I can barely get it to stay in place, and the corners are nowhere near where they should be on the bed when I'm done. In addition, the flat sheet is not long enough on the sides. I get about a 2 inch overhang, which is not enough.

  • Greatest Sheets Ever!
    Verified Purchase

These sheets are awesome! I'm wondering if people who have given negative reviews are actually reviewing the right product. These are not at all scratchy! One side is slightly softer/smoother than the other, but these felt awesome right out of the package! I washed them before putting them on the bed and they were slightly wrinkled out of the dryer, but putting them on the bed right away smoothed them out nicely. Granted, I'm not super picky about a few wrinkles and I've never ironed sheets in my life. They are like slipping into a little piece of heaven every night and make it hard to get up in the morning. Even my husband, who usually doesn't care about anything I buy for the house has commented on how nice these sheets are. I know they will continue to get softer with every wash and it's hard to believe they can get any better than they already are. I plan on purchasing more to alternate with washes and even some for my kids when they're old enough to appreciate fine linens! I got them in white and they were deep enough to fit my pillowtop queen size matress nicely. They don't come off on the corners at all. So far, they have washed beautifully and are right on par with other high-quality sheets I've owned in the past. They are a nice thickness and weight, but still breathable. I'm not sure if there's any difference in softness if you purchase them in a color - maybe the dye makes them take a little longer to soften up, but the white ones have been luxurious from the get-go!

  • Great sheets - Durable and super soft..WASH FIRST!

I puirchased 2 sets of these exact same sheets in 2006. I have rotated between the 2 different sets every week. 7 years later the fitted sheets finally gave out and developed some tears. Suffice to say......after washing them when you receive them (I washed them 5X) they are the softest sheets you will ever have. Worth every penny. I have purchased another 2 sets to replace my old ones. Too bad they don't offer separates :)

  • Great sheets, but too small for my king bed
    Verified Purchase

I ordered these because they were deep pocket, but they really don't fit my king bed very well. The fitted sheet is super hard to put on (I don't have a Cal King or any fancy mattress feather bed on top of my mattress) and the flat sheet is not wide enough, so my husband and I are always pulling the sheet from each other. All that said, they are great quality and feel awesome.

  • Best thing since Iphone
    Verified Purchase

As soon as the package arrived. I popped open the box, only to find the color was actually more beautiful than I remembered ordering. I then took the sheets out of the package for a look over and a feel. i examined the pillow cases to find they were well made and then looked over the ends of the sheets. Both the flat sheet and the fitted sheet appeared to be well worth the price I paid. I then put the sheets on the bed. I feel in love with the sheets. The deep corners fit my mattress perfectly. I laid in the sheets and enjoyed moving all about. I was truly laying in luxuary. after a week of being on the bed I decided to give the sheets a wash to see how they would hold up. ( mind you that I was all my expensive sheets on cold water, and easy care cycle. using a non abrasive liquid detergent. Then dry the sheets on tumble dry, easy care, no heat, extended tumble fluff cycle). After two hours they were ready to put back on the bed for another once over. The sheets held up really well and did not appears to be damaged or change the texture in any way. Love love love these sheets. I will be buying a second pair for Christmas.

  • Love these sheets! Great price for 1000 count!
    Verified Purchase

We got two sets and basically threw away all the other sheets in the house. They get even better the more you wash them. The only issue is that if you have a thick mattress, with a foam topper, they are pretty tight. I wish they were slightly larger as the top sheet is too small to tuck in on the sides, but I do not mind as I am fine with the bottom edge tucked, the sheet is long enough, but not really as wide as some might like. This in on a Cal King so may not be an issue on other sizes. The sheets are thick, but not stiff, and totally comfy.

  • A Little Disappointed
    Verified Purchase

It looks like I'm the exception here and it's possible I just got a sup par set or some seconds rather than first quality, but these sheets feel more like a canvas than Egyptian cotton coming out of the package. I've laundered them a dozen times now and they're still not as soft as other sheets of this weight (1000 TC) I've owned. In fact I have 1200 TC Egyptian cotton sheets I bought from Overstock that are much softer. I guess I'm keeping them because I've laundered them so many times and I monogrammed the pillowcases with misplaced confidence that they would soften up after repeated washings. But I'm looking for new sheets; I guess I will keep these as a back up set. The other thing I'd mention is that the ivory color is more yellow than ivory. If I HAD to buy this set over again I'd just buy white knowing what I know now. If you want a more yellow sheet, you will like this color. It is rare that I have any regrets over an Overstock purchase but I sincerely do this time. It's not like they're burlap, they just have a much rougher texture than any other set of high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets I've ever owned and I'm 50 and have been buying Egyptian cotton sheets for 30 years. You might try your luck on a different set.
