I wanted a featherbed after sleeping on one at a hotel in Alaska this summer. I read the reviews on this featherbed and decided to purchase a full-size featherbed for my guest bedroom (full size bed) to check out the quality. When I received the full size featherbed, it was a little difficult to put on the cover since the zipper was on one side and did not run the entire length of the featherbed. Other than that, we were very pleased. I had my husband sleep on the featherbed for a week to test it out. Feathers did not leak or poke through. The loft was as high as stated and remained high enough to sleep on with only gently fluffing it mid-week and putting it in a pyramid at the end of the week. I found that using a queen flat sheet over the cover, loosely tucking under the edges was best since it stayed on without wrinkling or bunching and did not compressing the featherbed. I then ordered a queen size feather bed for our extra long full-size bed. The size was right and the featherbed was even better than the first since the zipper was at the end of the cover and easy to put on. With the second featherbed we discovered several things. With antique beds, a step stool may be needed to get into bed because of the additional height. A queen feather bed provides better coverage on a full size bed even though a full size featherbed does fit. Also, how a person sleeps affects the loft. My husband is a restless sleeper and flips over frequently. Evidently, he helps keep the featherbed fluffed. I sleep in the same position all night, rarely turning. Now I have to fluff the featherbed every day (sometimes I only do my side) and pyramid it 2 times a week to maintain the loft. I love the feel and the way I sleep on our featherbed! I can't wait for overnight guests so I can convert them to sleeping on a featherbed.
We purchased the king size for our king bed. It runs short. What I mean by that is, depending on which person (if you sleep more than one in a bed) tosses the most, wins! They'll win the bulk of this featherbed on their side living the opposite slanted. Despite the king being short, this featherbed does feel as if you are laying on a cloud. It does turn your bed into a midrange (e.g. Marriott or Hilton) fluffy bed. We ended up pulling it off of our bed due to the shortness of size for the king. We will keep it and store it for future use on a queen. So, if you have a queen size bed, buy the king.
