I read the reviews before I bought this and everyone said that it was very thin. I guess I didn't know how thin they were talking. This is the thinnest down comforter I've ever seen. Like, half an inch thick-MAYBE. However, I really like it. I put it on my bed right when we got it... I can't believe how warm it is! This paired with flannel sheets is more than warm enough I dont think I will being using a "winter down".
With an aim toward lowering energy cost this winter, I shopped for a quality, lighter-weight down comforter that would enable me to lower my thermostat and still stay warm throughout the cold winter months as I watch television or read in the living room. I love this comforter as it meets every expectation I had! Its 233 thread count, 100% cotton cover has a 10-inch box stitch construction which keeps the down evenly spaced and, with 25 ounces of pure white down (Full/Queen size), the 525-fill power is fantastic for such a light-weight comforter! My plan is to use this comforter to replace my heavier (winter-weight) down comforter on my bed in the warmer months.
Very saftisfied with the quality for the price I paid! My husband says it's perfect, he tends to get very warm as he sleeps, and this comforter is the perfect temp for him. I could use a little bit more warmth, so I add a light blanket to my side. Come summer, though, this will be the only comforter on the bed. We live in a maritime climate, so the warmest night here would be 60 degrees. The comforter covers the mattress well, if you're looking for a king that covers the box base also, choose another of larger dimensions. If a down comforter of good quality that isn't overly warm is what you're looking for, this is the one.
I have owned this comforter for two months now. This comforter is stitched well, no flying feathers, and is soft. The color is white not ivory. The weight is what I would call light. It will be good for year around use, and is more of what I would call a down blanket rather than a big puffy comforter. If you are looking for a lightweight comforter for cooler nights, this will do the job. I purchased the king size and it is not large enough to hang down several inches on the sides of the bed. but it does cover the top of the bed with a few inches to spare. It's a good value for the price and perfect for warmer climates. Not washable, dry clean only.
Very soft....squares are about 6 inches around & looks nice on bed
I purchased this down comforter for my teen-aged daughter, and she could not be happier with the product. It has the appearance and feel of a more expensive comforter and is the perfect weight for our southern Ohio climate. The full/queen size fit perfectly into a duvet cover which came from a different company. I was also impressed with the quick shipping (just standard--nothing special) and the fact that the comforter was wrapped in plastice to protect it from the elements. (This measure was tested as the box sat for a few hours on our porch in the rain. The box was partially soaked, but the comforter was perfect!) This down comforter is very nice quality--at a very comfortable price.
I waited anxiously for this to arrive. I'd selected two down comforters with the intention of seeing which one was better. This beat the Royal Velvet Milan hands down for a similar price. This does not dissappoint. The fabric is much softer even at only 233 threads(feels silky against the skin) and there is no crinkle of feathers since it is 75% down (the Royal Velvet Milan is 85% feathers and only 15% down.) There has been no shedding of feathers/down which is a definite plus. There was also no "natural odor" when I opened it. I was able to use it the first night. At first I thought it might not be warm enough ( we are near Chicago and the Hawk is here.) so I added another blanket. My hubby and I were kicking off the comforter at night. I plan to use a duvet cover since it is dry clean only and our puppy loves to sleep with us.Don't let the thinness of this fool you. It is a GREAT buy for those who don't need a weighty blanket for warmth and who prefer soft luxury. I plan on buying a few more for the kid's beds.;-)
I have been researching a down (alternative ok) comforter for almost a year now. I was looking for one that is lightweight (since I live year-round in Florida) and has all sewn sections (to help keep the materials in tact). I read all the reviews and decided on this one. GREAT CHOICE! It is exactly what I was looking for ... warm, soft, cuddly, lightweight and just plain perfect for this climate (of course, we keep the air conditioning running 24/7). Although it is dry clean only, I am confident that keeping it inside the duvet cover I also bought (full/queen) the comforter will stay fresh. As for the packing smell? I opened it up, fluffed it, spread it outside for an hour, refluffed and put it on my bed inside the duvet. No smell and VOILA!
Perfect Price, Great product! Partner and i love it. We find it hard getting out of bed from being so darn comfortable with this on us! Being in South Florida I have been weary of buying one due to being afraid with the heat. This thing is great with the AC cool @ night like I like. Now I just need to find the right duvet covers! :) Shipping took a bit but I think because it came from CA.
Disappointed is an understatement! The ad's photo show a lush comforter that has an overhang of several inches. In reality, it was paper thin and only hung a few inches over the side of our mattress. I definitely would NOT recommed this comforter to anyone!
I've only had this comforter for about a week, but, so far, I'm impressed. In the past, I have always used the Woolrich brand 'down comforter blankets' I've found at ****. Well, I went looking for one a few weeks ago, and they no longer carry them :( Everywhere else I looked, king sized comforters were outrageously expensive, so I was thrilled to find this one at a decent price. Now, this is not a heavy comforter. It is more lightweight, which is perfect for southern climates. I was thrilled that is actually KING sized and totally covers my mattress with plenty of extra to hang down far enough on each side to hide the mattress. All others I have had in the past have been too short. There was no odor as some others have stated. Also, some people complained that the comforter was 'thin, and squished down' when it arrived. Well, so was mine, but they fluff up with use, or, you can shake them to fluff them or, if you have a large enough dryer, throw them in the dryer with a damp towel and they will fluff up. I am very pleased with my purchase, and it arrived within just a few days even within the rushed time before Christmas!
I've been needing a new comforter for a while now, so I decided to buy one from overstock since the prices are always so reasonable. A few of the reviews said that this was more of a "down blanket" since it wasn't fluffy enough, and when it first came in the mail. i admit it was a little anticlimactic. BUT, I tossed it in the dryer with a few tennis balls for 15 minutes and it came out soft and huge and fluffy. LOVE IT. It's pretty, too. Very elegant looking and perfect by itself with a few throws draped over the end. Very warm, not too heavy, and i haven't noticed any down leaking as of yet. VERY happy with this comforter.
Ok so I was SUPER skeptical buying this, the price seemed too good to be true, and like most people I wanted to be able to touch and feel it for myself. I finally took the plunge and am SOOOO happy that I did. Fortunately I bought a king for my queen bed because I have no idea how a queen would have covered my bed. The king is super long and barely fits over the sides so it is a little weird, but I can definitely overlook that. I am so happy with it! You'll need to fluff it up after you take it out of the packaging, of course you're not going to have some big pillowy comforter, most downs are not like that anyway. I like to sleep in a cold room snuggled under the covers, but I hate getting hot, and this is perfect for that. I didn't think it was rough like other reviews, it's not microsuede soft but who is expecting that? Love it. The shipping on the otherhand was a nightmare, but I blame UPS for that.
The overall weight is what I wanted, but I'm disappointed to find that some boxes have lots of feathers and some boxes have hardly any. Of course the pictures show evenly filled boxes, but that's what's on my bed. Don't they have some process for getting the down evenly spread? With a lightweight comforter a "lightly filled" box gets almost nothing.
This was my first down comforter purchase. I had read the other reviews before ordering and found the comments about the low loft accurate when I unpacked my comforter. This was a plus for me because I live in a warm climate and don't like the puffed marshmallow look you sometimes get with high-loft down comforters. The box stitching on the comforter is very nice because it keeps the down from shifting and clumping. The cover is also nice even if it is a fairly low thread-count. Upon use, I found I slept cozy warm under this comforter and was very pleased that it didn't feel heavy on top of me. It's in the linen closet for the summer now, but will be back in use on my bed next winter again. Very satisfied with this purchase.
This would be a total 5-star, but it is difficult to find a good warm-weather comforter. We've had this on my daughter's bed for a couple of weeks and it seems to be doing the trick, although she had a night or two when she wasvery warm. We keep the temp. around 74 degrees and use only one sheet and a cotton duvet cover. I don't know if there's anything out there that'd be perfect ALL the time. For the $, this is a great choice. Especially the baffle box construction, that keeps stuffing evenly distributed.
Love the comforter itself. It's great if you're looking for a lightweight down option. However, it's small. I have it in both a double and king, and the king especially barely hangs over our mattress, and doesn't reach from top to bottom. I compared measurements to our other king sized down comforter from Land's End, and it is indeed a few inches smaller. We have a low profile bed, and so it's not a big deal, but if you're looking for a big fluffy comforter that drapes over your mattress, this isn't the one.
read a past review that "wife wanted more warmth and husband wanted less warmth" in a comforter so they decided on this one- that is why we purchased this comforter. and we completely agree! it is somehow perfect for us both. it is a thin and light-weight comforter but sturdy and still good looking. two 26inch euro pillows came with our order as well; we are very pleased with the amount of down in them- they maintain their shape for decoration on the bed and are also very comfortable for lounging. very pleased with this purchase
This down comforter is everything you hope for from down. One of the biggest reasons I looked for a real down comforter was that I wanted a warm, light weight comforter that would last a long time. Since I have not had it a long time yet I will have to review it again at a later date.
I read many of the reviews before purchasing this comforter and was aware of the "crunching sound" it makes, but in my opinion, it's not a deal breaker. We really like this comforter. It's perfect here in Carefree, Arizona, where it can get chilly enough at night to need a comforter, but don't want anything too heavy. It does make a slight/noticable crunching sound, but not loud enough to wake up my husband. I'm a light sleeper and he hasn't woken me up with any of his "crunchings." I use an electric blanket to warm up the bed and then turn it off when I go to sleep, and the comforter maintains the warmth for the rest of the night. My husband doesn't use the electric blanket and it's just enough to keep him warm without getting too hot. It's a very nice light weight, and so far we haven't experienced any undesirable re-distribution of the down feather filling. Super happy with this purchase and especially at the price!! All smiles.
