  • A good firm pillow

In another review for the medium density model of this pillow from this firm, I mention this firm density one. I purchased and kept both the medium and firm density pillows. First and foremost, I greatly prefer plain ordinary foam pillows over any of the down, synthetic down, down alternative pillows, and I have not found any of the newer memory foam, gel memory foam or other specially designed foam pillows that I liked. And I've tried many over the years. These pillows are however good to great. I found that this firm density pillow is a bit too firm for me for most nights, but on occasion when I want a very supportive pillow, I go right for this one. The main pillow I use almost every night is the medium density pillow by the same manufacturer through Overstock, and that pillow has been the perfect pillow for me. It is the 'Goldilocks solution" - not too soft; not too firm; just right. So if you're looking for a very firm pillow, this one is a good bet to try. If you you like a mix of good support and some 'give' then you might want to consider the medium density version.

I have purchased many pillows looking for the best side sleeper pillow and this one is great. It keeps it shape and does not go flat while you sleep. I do not wake up with terrible neck and shoulder pain. The only reason I gave it only 4 stars was because I ordered a king size and this is the smallest king size pillow I have ever seen. I roll over from my left side to my right side several times during the night and have a tendency to roll off my pillow because it is so small. I am use to sleeping on a bigger pillow. Still it is a good pillow, just need it to be bigger.

Finally I have found the pillow that suits me to a T. I love not having to rearrange the filling to fill in low spots. This pillow is the right density and height to allow me to sleep either on my side, or on my back without ending up with a stiff neck. Nirvana!

  • My Favorite Pillow

I used to own one of these, & it lasted for about 30 years, & was certainly my favorite pillow. After it finally wore out, I spent many years looking for a similar one, but I didn't remember where I bought it or what brand it was or what it was called (I had cut out all the labels). Since then, I've bought 10-12 pillows, looking for a replacement, but didn't like any of them. I like a firm pillow, so I stacked up 2-3 of the others at a time. I had given up on locating another one, thinking that they weren't made anymore. I finally found this one by searching for "latex foam". I was very surprised when I received it, because it's identical to my old one, with the ventilation holes & all. I was so happy with it that I bought two. Some of my favorite things about this pillow are: 1) it will last a long time; the ones I just bought here are sure to outlive me 2) they're not expensive at all considering their durability & quality 3) they are indeed firm 4) unlike some other pillows (especially synthetic fill), my head doesn't sweat, due to the ventilator holes 5) it never loses it shape (I shouldn't say "never", because it will lose it's shape after 30 years or so) 6) partly due to the high quality, smooth cotton case in comes in, & partly due to it's consistency & retaining its shape, it's the easiest pillow to get into & out of a pillowcase. What some people may not like: 1) if you're used to feather or down pillows, or even polyester fill pillows, this pillow will not feel the same (it has a bit of a "springy" feel to it, but remember, it is latex, after all) 2) if you like your head to sink all the way into a pillow, this is not it 3) it is not a "standard" size; it's a bit narrow, but it will fit well into standard pillowcases. This is an excellent bargain for an outstanding pillow.

They hold their form well are very comfortable and easily cleaned. They have a zippered cover that comes off and you can wash dry and replace on the pillow. Love that they have different sizes and densities.

As long as you are not allergic to latex these are wonderful pillows. They hold their form well are very comfortable and easily cleaned. They have a zippered cover that comes off and you can wash dry and replace on the pillow. Love that they have different sizes and densities. I probably spent ******** replacing my pillows. Would not change back. Keep a couple pillows of the "other kind" in case you have visitors who are sensitive to latex so there is no chance of interaction.

I have always slept on a latex foam pillow, but this was the first time I had to buy one sight unseen. Without being able to see and test the pillows, issues like firmness and potentially noxious fumes, coupled with a wide range of prices and no standardized measurements for twin, queen, or king made the task more onerous than one might expect. I dithered about getting firm, but really hate my pillow to go flat when I rest my head on it. The firm turned out to be a bit firmer than my previous pillow, but not at all rigid and after a couple nights I was quite used to it. A medium probably would've been ok too. The newly arrived pillow did smell like latex when I stuck my nose in it, but I left it sit open all day and washed the pillow cover with other laundry using my usual laundry products. That night, encased in the pillow cover and a pillowcase I did not notice any particular scent. I should note that the pillow comes compressed into a very small (for a bed pillow) mailing envelope, but springs right back into shape once released from the packaging. It did not seem to have suffered from the squishing; actually, by being more 'solid' the pillow may have withstood the shipping process better. All in all, buying my "pillow in a poke" turned out fine.

Latex foam pillows are harder to find these days, now that everything seems to be memory foam, which I do not like. This pillow is firm and large (queen). It supports my head all night, if I lean it against the back of the bed it is supportive as well. I particularly like the resilience, no flattening with use. It's great the Overstock has an assortment of these pillows with different size and firmness. There is a very nice, textured cover that zips off for washing. I suspect it would not slip back on easily. The queen size pillow fills my queen size cases completely with not any case to hang over the end. I suppose this is the only somewhat negative.

The foam is good. While too firm to sleep on, it is perfect for back support while sitting in bed. The cover, however, is not 230 thread count anything, but cheesy polyester fleece. Customer Service would have done well to have replaced it with what was advertised. I bought a 230 thread count cotton cover to replace the trashy poly thing for about *** Foolish end to a business relationship.

These are just the latex foam pillows I've been looking for. I ordered the king size pillows which were a little shorter than a full king pillow - around 32 inches long. This works better for me because the full king length is just a little too big for comfort for me although I have a king size bed. The pillows remind me of the old foam rubber pillows. It was important that I was able to pick the firmness. I like a soft but firm pillow and I choose the firm which was perfect. Although it is firm, it is not hard. It is not like a firm memory firm pillow which I found was much too firm. This pillow allows my head to sink a little bit but not too far. Depending on your liking it also comes in soft and medium firmness choices.

  • Soft, supportive, good height

After reading an article about choosing pillows, I was interested in trying these latex pillows, which were rated highest for comfort and support. Down pillows, which I always thought were "the best" were rated very low for actual neck support. I am a side and back sleeper and the firm latex pillow provides cushy comfort and the right height to support my head and neck properly when lying on my side. On my back it is too high so I either switch pillows or just slide it out from under my head when I turn to my back. Initially the pillow had a slight chemical smell but it dissipated after 2-3 days. I do have a very sensitive nose but was able to sleep on the pillow during the outgassing phase without too much annoyance. I ordered queen size pillows which are plenty plump enough to fill up our generously sized, Lands' End queen pillowcases. We've been using them for about 2 weeks and they've been great so far. I have no idea how long they will maintain their comfort--hopefully a long time!

... Just right! This is the Mama Bear of firm pillows. As an antidote to the stress of NYC living, my R&R consists largely of lounging for long hours in bed & this foam pillow supplements my squishy-soft down pillows to provide wonderful, just-right support for semi-horizontal TV viewing. I am a happy slacker.

I have several of these pillows that I purchased 5 years ago, and they are still like new. The new ones are the same. They are not really firm, more medium. After using these latex pillows, we can never go back to anything else. We also use two inch latex toppers on our beds. Latex lasts for years and, unlike memory foam, does not sleep hot. The pillows do need to air out for several weeks before they lose the latex smell, but it does eventually go away. Love thse pillows.

  • Swishy pillows are not always comfortable!
    Verified Purchase
    Option: King

I have shifted through a multitude of pillow types over the past 40 years. Latex foam pillows are the most comfortable, the sturdiest, the longest-lasting, and the best shape for sore neck and shoulders. The height is perfect. The construction is wonderful. The vague odor after unwrapping lasts a very short time. I switched from a "My Pillow" product to Talatech product - and it was worth it. Pillows other than latex tend to flatten through the night, causing aches from an awkward layout. Latex pillows provide firm support throughout the night, and you'll wake up filling fresh and firm. Definitely a product to consider if you're getting older and stiffer!

I have slept on natural latex pillows since a child & needed to purchase a king sized pair for a new bed. I purchased the firm density after researching the reviews from other customers. The pillows were a great price & they also came with a very nice high quality pillow protector; preventing the need for an additonal purchase to keep the pillows clean. I'm a side sleeper and love the way the pillow fits well right along side my shoulder & supports my neck without feeling like the pillow is flat!! Purchasing latex pillows can be a greater cost initially, but they last a very long time & never go flat; they always spring back into thier original shape. There was a bit of smell with the pillows as others said, but just being out of the packaging & in the open air; it was gone in a day or so.I will always buy latex pillows when needing pillows, and my latex pillow purchases through OS have been quality every time.

These are nice pillows with very little smell. But was a little disappointed in the firmness, they are more like medium than firm. They come with a 230 thread count cover, but I think they need an extra pillow cover to protect and keep out dust mites.
