Searched high and low for the perfect size glider for our newborn nursery. After visits to several furniture stores we liked the Dutailier quality but couldn't find the exact size we were looking for (some were too big and some were too small). This looked to be about right so we took a chance and it is perfect.
Came very fast, It was easy to put together but there was one important part missing, the peg to install one of the side arms. The hardware bag had been opened somehow and parts were all over the box. This was the only part that was not found. I called overstock and they took care of it although I have not received the missing part yet. Over all the chair is very comfortable and I like it. I went to show rooms to look at gliders. I sat in them and this one is just as comfortable but those were more expensive.
The chair is very comfortable yet modern looking. When we received it, the base of the chair was cracked so I had to go back and forth with overstock to get a replacement part. Once everything was resolved and we put the chair together (very easy to assemble) I loved the way it looked. Be aware it does not rock very smooth on carpet. I highly recommend it.
This is by far the cheapest thing we bought in the nursery. After spending so much money on nonsense, I didn't want to spend a lot on a rocker that I would discard in 2 years or so. I scoured the Internet and read pages and pages of boring reviews on about a million different gliders. I decided on this first because it matches my colors (vanity) and of course the price and it looks comfortable. And guess what- it is! And glides very easily and (bonus) it reclines so my feet can streatch out and be comfortable. If you are looking for a high quality piece, this isn't it. But if you want something that's not so ugly, functional and reasonable priced, this works.
The rocker comes in 7 sections. The purchaser has to have a basic skill to put it together. The Allen wrench comes with it. although the chair is somewhat comfortable, the arms do not seem to quite high enough for our taste.
The chair came a week earlier than expected.
I purchased this glider/ottoman set for the birth of my first child. It was the one item I knew I MUST have for my nursery. However, I researched for months. I started looking at chairs in December, but my baby was not due until August. I live in an area that provided only four different glider models to sample between all of the stores in a drivable radius, so I relied on online reviews and descriptions. Hope this one helps.
Why I chose this model:
1) Locking mechanism was a must. My hips were slipping out of place during my pregnancy and I feared falling with my child while getting up from a midnight feeding w/out the locking feature. In the end, my hips did okay, but I had a c-section (not planned) and this feature proved to be heaven sent while recovering. I would not have been able to stand up without it!
2) Reclining: My back/spine is out of alignment and puts a lot of pressure on my head causing tension/migraine headaches if I sit too long in the wrong position. The recline provided me options to sit in and to be extremely comfortable during late night feeding.
3) Nursing feature of ottoman: I hadn't nursed before, but it seemed like a must have item from several experienced moms. It is a nice feature to have, though I think I would have been okay with a standard rocking ottoman. It didn't end up being a must-have feature for me. I have only used it a handful of times.
4) Rocking ottoman: Very nice feature for really calming a baby late night.
5) Dark colored fabric: I chose the grey because it was neutral, but a dark print so it wouldn't reveal spit-up stains or other stains from long-term use. I have had to clean up a few spit-ups so far and the fabric looks nice and brand new.
6) Dutailier: I went with this brand for the quality ratings that it had provided for the comfort and durability of the cushions and fabric. The chair is extremely comfortable for me. It has supported me (I was 180lbs at 9 months pregnant and 5'5" and my husband who is 5"10 and 180lbs). Both of us find it comfortable.
I am writing this review after 2 months of continued use.
Cons: Price! I would have gone with this chair as a slam dunk decision months ago had it not been for the price. It is far more expensive than I wanted it to be, but have dealt with some stability issues with my body in the past that lead to injury and back issues that cause further pain, so in the end I opted for the higher price tag. Overstock was the best value for this particular chair.
I purchased the grey wool-like fabric with white wood finish. My husband was disappointed to see that it was a painted wood and not solid, thick natural wood as with some of the $$$ models we'd seen in town.
We bought this rocker for our nursery after I fell in love with a similar one from Pottery Barn. This is our third baby and I didn't want to spend too much money on "nursery furniture" - this rocker has a great price point and the quality is also great. It's pretty wide which means plenty of room for any extra pillows (such as nursing pillows). The seat is not the comfiest but definitely comfy enough.
Oh and it is definitely NOT white (like it looks like in the picture) but rather a beige or natural color. Didn't make a huge difference to us but it might to some.
We searched forever for a griege-ish colored comfy chair. I am sitting in it right now in our living room, it's very firm, a little too firm, but still comfortable. Love the rocker aspect. The recliner functionality is a little rough. It works, but I struggle getting the footrest back down. The price is so insanely cheap, it's easier to overlook the two aforementioned issues. One of the things I questioned was the handle, it doesn't bother me that it's visible the way our chair is set up. It would go with many styles and not just in nurseries ;)
This chair is a perfect blend of mid-century modern and ... modern. Simple, stylish, tasteful. Quite handy since it doesn't take up too much space, yet it doesn't feel too small when you are sitting in it. Swivels well and looks fantastic. But the best part was the Overstock customer service. There was a slight problem with our order and Overstock like "overreacted" and went beyond what we asked for or were even hoping for. This was without a doubt the best online customer service transaction we have EVER had.
Love this rocker. When I saw it on overstock, I had to have it. I have a 3 year old grandchild, 3 month old grandchild and the third grandchild due any day. It will be perfect for all four of us to get in and rock and read! Very well built and sturdy. It comes in a large box in 4 pieces. I put it together by myself in less than an hour. The fabric is great. The color is neutral and will work with most colors. Received it right on time.
My husband and I ordered this chair for our son's nursery - and we love it! My husband is 6'4" and fits in this chair comfortably. The ottoman is the perfect height, and the chair swivels/glides smoothly. We also love the dark grey color - it goes really well in the room. The ordering/delivery process was great as well. After searching for the right chair for our house, this price and quality were perfect for us!
We purchased for for our nursery. I am 5'10 and my husband is 6'3, the back of the chair is tall enough for both of us. The complaints about the creaking are true, however my husband adjusted and used some WD40 and it fixed it right up. Also the concern about pushing the recliner back in are true, it is tough however when it's going to disrupt baby I just step around it with no problem. Chair is comfortable, has a great rocking option and recline is comfortable as long as you keep some pressure on foot rest. Overall we are happy with our purchase, especially at the price point!
Love this chair! It fits me (5'3) and my husband (6'1) perfectly. We haven't used it per say yet since our daughter is still brewing, but I often sit in there from time to time. The quality is outstanding, it's comfortable, and it was super easy to put the back on! I did it myself at 5 months pregnant. Highly recommend, and I can't wait to rock my sweet baby girl to sleep in this!
I have yet to actually sit and nurse on this glider, but that it my intention and I can't wait- I was looking around on craigslist for this brand glider and could NEVER find it... I believe there is a reason why... people don't sell them !! They keep them, which says a whole lot. Quality of product is great, sturdy, easy to assemble and love the back cushion. I LOVE that I found it on sale during black friday deals!!!
I bought this chair for my daughter and son-in-law in anticipation of the birth of daughter number three. The only problem is that they fight over who gets to sit in this fabulously comfy chair. It's a perfect spot to read to the other two girls and to take a nap. The seat is extra wide, accommodating both pregnant mama and the younger girls. Mama is tall (6 ft) and the chair fits her perfectly, supporting her head and providing plenty of depth. The fabric is soft and inviting. It was more than simple to put together and will be treasured for years to come.
I got this for my daughter a couple weeks after the birth of her son to replace the rocker/recliner that she had that just wasn't working for her. This was just right! Perfect size for the room and for her. She loves it and the nursing ottoman! I tried ordering from Wayfair, but they didn't have the right color combination I wanted plus this was a little cheaper and was to arrive sooner. It arrived even sooner than expected and my son in law had no trouble with the assembly. I will be purchasing a second one for my younger daughter due in August.
Very nice chair and ottoman great value for the price. It is comfortable but... to easily rocks and glides, needs adjustment, if you were holding a child or have problems with balance you fall forward. I do like the chair but will check to see if this issue can be corrected, also if you have long legs the seat is not very deep.
I bought this glider as I'm expecting twins in two months. Similar glider as in other baby stores, but almost half the price. The seat is tall enough to lay your head against (for ppl 6' tall for sure), which I believe will be very important once the babies arrive. Very easy to assemble, colors are great, and it's the most comfortable for this size and price range!
Very comfortable and as wonderful as I was expecting.
I have been searching for a while and I'm glad we settled on this one.
Not too hard to put together.
It's soft and great for my height. I am 5'10". But it is a little on the narrow side. So if you're a little on the wider or heavier side, it may be a little snug.
But all and all, it's amazing
We shopped around before choosing this glider. It was at least $100 less than the same one we saw on Amazon.com. This one reclines and all the other ones at the same price point did not. I also read that some of the less expensive Duatalier gliders were made in China--this one was the higher quality ones made in Canada. Assembly was very easy and even though the box looked like it had gone though a war, it was packaged well without a scratch. Its as comfortable as any glider we tried in a store. And with $2.95 shipping you can't go wrong with trying it out.
We spent a lot of time looking around for the perfect glider/recliner and just kept coming up short. We wanted wide, but not huge; tall enough to provide neck support (we're both 6'); not so soft that you can't get out of it, but soft enough to be comfy. It seemed like every furniture store had the same two glider/recliners, then would tell us they could order in something more to our liking... with a 45% non-refundable deposit on a chair that retails for ***. If I'm going to take that kind of gamble buying a chair sight unseen, I'll just order off Overstock.com. At least if we didn't like the chair, we'd still HAVE a chair to resell without having to pay twice what the silly thing is worth!!
Well, our gamble paid off. We LOVE this chair. It is sturdy, easy to move around & assemble with the quick-release back brackets, and super comfy. It swivels, glides & reclines (it doesn't glide while reclined, but it will swivel). The color is true to the picture. My only complaint is that it's not quite tall enough in the back. I'd think anyone under 5'9" or so would find it perfect, but we'll probably need a neck pillow for maximum comfort once our kid arrives. But all in all, we are very pleased and we probably wouldn't have gotten much closer to perfect if we'd paid twice as much at a retail store.
I've been searching for the perfect glider and ottoman. I registered for one almost exactly identical to this one at a popular baby store. Same brand name and all possibly the exact same one except the one I registered for was $400-$500 just for the chair and the ottoman was an additional $200. I couldn't bring myself to spending that kind of $$$ on a glider. The key for me for a perfect glider and ottoman is one that rocked yet reclined and locked into position. This one does, and does it well. There are other gliders on this site that look the same but are cheaper because they don't have those features. My hubby put it together in minutes and I sat in it and rocked away. If it could rock me to sleep it's sure to do the same with our little one. Still waiting for her arrival in April so haven't been able to use it with her yet but if any feelings have changed I'll come back and adjust the review. Perfect for breastfeeding!
This is a lovely rocking chair for the price! A few things you should know before purchasing:
1) The seat is FIRM.
2) The seat is FIXED (you can't turn it).
3) The back is low (be sure and look at the measurements.
That said, this is perfect to have in my bedroom for rocking my grandbabies! For the price, I couldn't be happier!
I first got a similar dutailier chair exclusive to buy buy baby and liked it a lot. However, it did not recline, because I thought I didn't want it to. That was before I had my son and realized that not all babies take naps or go down to sleep easily...or at all. I've spent so much time wishing I could lean back with him in my lap and just be comfortable and doze off in those hours. I had to get a new chair, so I picked this one. It speaks highly of dutailier that I looked at every.single.reclining.rocker, even those over a grand, but came back to this brand. The quality is exceptional with a smooth glide, the recline mechanism is easy and smooth and quiet so as not to disturb my son, and it rocks while reclined!! It's the same color as my old rocker, a nice warm, variegated wool-like gray. And overstock's price and customer service could not be beat!! I also love the nursing ottoman after sticking my feet inside my old regular style ottoman to prop them. The only thing it's missing is pockets in the arm rest...I used the ones from my old chair (which was the 2-post style, not the sleigh), and they fit - an extra $* for the old chair well-spent /sarcasm. Oh well. Love this chair though! If only I had known what I know now and bought it in the first place.
I bought 2 to have one both upstairs and downstairs. It is perfect for rocking my little one and my toddler and is great for nights that my little one doesn't sleep. It allows me to be comfortable with the recliner and the rocker all in one.
