My son was exclusively breastfed until 3 months. I began to pump and bottle feed using Philips Avent bottles. He immediately began to reflux his milk. This went on for a few weeks. When I returned to work my milk supply diminished over time and I had to formula feed. My son developed sever digestion issues. He would almost always spit up after every feeding. After visiting with the dr we decided to put him on medication to help control the reflux. Around 6 months of age he Began to vomit severely after one or two feedings a day and then by 7 months he was refusing to eat from a bottle. He never would eat more than 4 oz at a time before that. Finally my doctor recommended switching bottles. She named off a few brands. I had heard some great things about dr Browns bottles from other friends who have infants. I wish I would have made the switch sooner. Upon his first feeding from the dr Browns bottle he had eaten an entire 6 oz bottle with absolutely no gagging, coughing, or spitting up. I was still hesitant but after an hour with no vomiting episode I was sold. We went and purchased 10 more. Now only two weeks later he is up to 8 oz per feeding and hasn't spit up or vomitted one time. I'm hoping that this leads to him being taken off the medication at his next check up. Thank you for making such an awesome product!
I have mixed feelings about the Adiri 9.5oz NxGen Stage 1 Nurser. It has a very nice sized nipple. It is wide & feels soft which is great. However it leaked. I had to make sure the bottle never tipped over even while capped because the milk would just pour out. I think the nipple hole was too big because all I had to do was tip it into my son's mouth & milk would fill his mouth. That's not good for a little guy who is having bottle feeding trouble as it is. It gave him no incentive to suckle & was often too much for him to swallow at once. It's listed as a slow flow bottle for a 3-6month old but it didn't work for my 3 month old. Maybe I got a defective one...don't know :o/
I had a hard time finding bottles that my one month old would latch onto and actually eat. I started using Dr.Brown and he has been gaining weight like his doctors want. He doesn't get hiccups as bad as before and he eats a whole 6 oz bottle.
