We wanted a crib in our new house for our two year old grandson to have sleep overs. He does love his new crib! Our biggest concern is that the sides are lower than we expected and the child stands at waist high, so falling out head first can be dangerous. (And our 2 year old is rather short!) For most two year olds that like to jump on their mattress, this could be reason enough not to buy this crib for older toddlers. It did not come with a mattress so we bought a nice one for the crib, which may be taller than a thinner portable crib mattress, adding an inch or two to the child's stand. We didn't want a crib you had to put together. Though this was very hard to snap off the plastic ties holding it together for mailing, you only needed to put on the wheels, if you want to use them. (We put them on and it rolls very easy on carpet, but also can lock in place.) We wanted a crib that folds up, when he gets too old for it, and we can use it for company staying. This crib folds very easily, once you take out the mattress. We solved the problem with our Jack falling out by purchasing from Australia a "tent" for "$XXX" that is wonderful and makes the crib usable now. We really love the crib but didn't want him landing on his head. The "tent" is strong netting that pops up like a tent and the mattress goes in it (so the tent is under and high over the crib, held up by extension support .) Jack can stand in the crib and not hit his head on the top. The whole thing is strong netting, with an outside thick zipper, but air can circulate from a fan and you can still see the child through a monitor camera. He absolutely loves his "tent" to sleep in (took 6 days to mail to us ) and we absolutely love knowing he can't fall out and we know where he is when we are sleeping..in his zipped up tent! Now we can use the crib with peaceful minds.
The quality of the crib is great but the mattress does not adjust to other levels. It is near impossible to get a small infant out of the crib, as you have to be 6 feet 6" tall to reach down to the low level. If a toddler that can stand up, then it is easy to grab them under their arms when standing and get them out of crib. Otherwise, very impractical to not have mattress adjust higher up.
Just got it today. It came in less than a week. It was very easy to set up. I love the way it folds all together. I have other portable cribs, but the mattress is always separate and requires 2 trips to carry everything. The crib seems very study.
