I had my twin girls 7 weeks early. We had a 7 week NICU stay, mainly because of feeding issues. My girls were struggling so bad with bottle feeding. We tried SO MANY bottles. Finally the lactation consultant gave us a Dr. Browns bottle to try as it seemed the biggest issue was the girls collapsing the nipples. The very first feed with the Dr. Browns my girls took more than they ever had! I immediately drove to Target and cleared the shelf. About a week later both of my girls were home! Thank you, Dr. Browns for getting my girls home! I truly believe these bottles are what did it!
As most people know, these bottles are vented so they will leak. Always pop the cap off before warming or the formula will travel up the vent pipe and out the vent causing you to leak formula. I find that it is very difficult to see the measurement lines on the colored bottles especially in the middle of the night and you're trying to mix your formula. Stick with the clear bottles.
I have been a long time dr brown bottle user and I am in love with the new and improved bottles! The options are great to have (especially because there have been times when I have forgotten the insert on the old bottles and watched my breast milk leak everywhere)! Most of all, I love that the numbers are finally a color instead of the clear raised numbers on the old ones. Those are soooo frustrating! Overall, I would love to switch all my bottles to the new ones!
We bought Dr Brown options bottles for our daughter when she turned 2 months old. She started to have severe stomach issues. Acid reflux and gastroenteritis. I was apposed to Dr Brown bottles when we were first looking because of the amount of parts and the fact the bottle didn't grow with my child. As her stomach issues became worse I gave in a got one from babiesrus. The options bottles are so much better than the original. The measurement lines are clear to see. The option insert is easier to clean and use. It's also assuring to know that if I can't find the insert at 3am the bottle will still function. I'm the end the bottle may have not cured her completely but it does help prevent additional discomfort.
