Hard to judge how much a one-and-a-half year old should be able to pound something before it breaks. Grandson loved this set and walked around the house Christmas day pretending to drink coffee.\ from the cup. Then, as one-year-olds will, he started banging the cup on everything. The (also-guilty) grandfather in the room stop him. Cup cracked, bottom broke. Hmmm. Don't know how much abuse one of these sets should be expected to take. Users' fault or manufacturers? Can't say.
We registered for bowls that didn't have lids when pregnant with our first baby, and we always struggled to put saran wrap on them when he didn't eat everything. What a hassle! With our second, I decided it was worth it to get more bowls, this time with lids, and we absolutely love them! They're so convenient and we store the lids underneath the bowls so everything is right there when we need it.
When a mom buy anything for feeding her baby what she expects is the best of the qualities. I bought these set for my first daughter about 4 years ago. Now we have a new baby which is starting solids and we are using the same set. The colors and shapes of the set remains intact. I really recommend this product it will last forever!
