I purchased this rug for my contemporary dining room and needed a light, airy design. The colors are a solid, very light beige and a light to medium cocoa. The carved pattern has gentle curves and is not at all overwhelming. The finishing is clean and very well done. It is quite plush, and feels soft under my bare feet. I do have a Supreme Felted Rug Pad under it, also puchased at Overstock. I would say this is an absolute necessity, to keep the rug weave looking smooth. I have two Scottish Terriers (black), and the rug stand up to vacuuming beautifully. I've noticed no pilling or shedding at all. Now, as with most handmade rugs, one side is not perfectly straight. There is a slight dip where the branch below the top flower in the photo meets the edge of the the rug. This doesn't bother me a bit, but I'm mentioning it for those used to the perfectly straight edges of machine made rugs. A Note About Color: I'm always skeptical about purchasing a rug online, as I feel there is a huge distinction between beige and ivory. But, definitions differ from manufacturers, resellers, just about anyone you ask. To me, ivory leans more toward yellows than beige, which should be completely neutral. I took a chance with this rug, as I loved the contemporary open design. To my good forturne, this rug is truly my idea of beige.
