I chose the Raven walking stick as an indulgence and I would not get any other, but as you can see from the photo, the beak is an accident waiting to happen. And it did. After a day or two, I found the beak had broken off at the tip. When you are using it, the breakage is not readily visible, so I did not notice it immediately. After much thought, I decided I could not bear to send the cane back. The raven's beak would always be in danger of breaking off and because the wood is dark, I just decided to live with a raven with a short beak. The carved raven fits well into the hand and is the right height to be useful as a walking stick. It is a beautiful work of art.
