I purchased these to go in a kitchen bay window which is surrounded with finished knotty pine boarding. The match was remarkable as far as color, and stylish looks. As one who does not like a lot of curtains, these were a perfect choice. With shades down, I can still see out very well, and they let just enough light in to not darken the area in the daytime. However, if you need more privacy at night, then I suggest purchasing the white privacy liner which is easy to attach to shade. This is what I did in a master bathroom where I placed the same shades. Easy to install.
