I really like my new coffee table. It mimics the Naguchi table that can be purchased at his museum for many times the price. However, the glass quality is much better than the wood. It is not made of real carved wood, but pressed particle board covered by some kind of plastic wood-looking cover to copy the look of the walnut that the original table is made of. It is a nicely done copy. This will likely not be obvious to a casual visitor. It looks beautiful. But if you really study it, you can tell it's not real wood, or even wood veneer. People who have come over to see my new apartment have all said how much they love and are envious of my beautiful coffee table. I had problems putting the two pieces together because the metal pin that holds them together wouldn't fit in all the way on one side, leaving a gap where the wood pieces should touch. I tried filing the inside hole a bit with a steak knife to make more space for the pin to fit in. Finally, my handyman just used a hammer to force it in and now it looks like the picture. The glass is very heavy and thick and gorgeous. I couldn't afford the real wood version and am very happy with this knock-off.
