When the bed arrived, the UPS man was apologizing for the way the boxes looked. He thought the bed would be damaged especially since it traveled from the west coast to the east coast; however, it wasn't damaged (one plus for an all metal bed). Very easy to put together and as others wrote, just follow the illustrations. They make putting it together much easier than trying to translate broken Chinese/American. The metal bed rails are metal (not wood), metal slats rest channels in the bed rails making it very solid and keep the slats from shifting. The slats than have metal center supports with adjustable feet. No wood screws anywhere, Yes, the posts are metal with metal finials that simply screw on to the posts. Also, all metal posts have protective bottoms to protect floors. I have all wood floors, this was very important to me. My husband was very happy with this purchase as the bed is very sturdy and that I didn't have to spend a fortune for a king size poster bed. As some reviewers have complained, there is about 4" for extra space at the bottom and sides of the bed. However, if you take the time to center the mattress and box springs it doesn't look odd at all. I have had platform beds that the mattress and box springs fit perfectly but made it extremely hard to tuck the comforter/coverlet down in, but the extra space makes it quite easy. Also true in past reviews, after the bed is made you don't see very much of the headboard, but the footboard makes up for it in spades. Also reviewed was the comment that their are extra parts after assembly. These parts would be used if you were only using the headboard and attaching a standard bed frame with no footboard. It's still nice to have that option down the road, but I love the bed the way it is. Would absolutely purchase this again.
