This bed arrived in three boxes. All were of a weight that can be managed by one person. The boxes each weighed between 30-45 pounds, in my estimation. Each piece was packed with sufficient protection so all items arrived in good condition. I assembled this bed single-handedly, with a phillips head screwdriver, according to the directions. The individual pieces felt solid, and have a reassuring weight. The frame can easily be assembled by one person, with little expertise other than the ability to follow simple instructions. The only awkward part would be supporting one piece whilst attaching it to another, where a helper would be useful, but not essential. The frame looks good, and could be mistaken for a Jordan's furniture or Crate and Barrel piece, though the absence of a headboard makes it look simple, and therefore inexpensive. As with all self-assembly furniture, and this may not be representative of your experience, some holes did not align so I had to improvise by screwing the supporting beam into the slats underneath the bed in different holes, using my own screws. The wood is soft, and therefore at no point did I need a drill, but did need to stop and think every so often. I would also highly recommend screwing all, or most of the slats into the frame to stop them shifting, though under the weight of a mattress, this might not be an issue, or indeed might not be recommended. This is just my opinion since some of the slats were slightly warped and did not sit on the frame well without being screwed down. Regardless of the points above, this appears to be a quality attempt at an inexpensive bed frame. I would purchase again and recommend to a friend. For the money it is hard to beat and looks more expensive than it is.
