We're very pleased with this memory foam topper. It is very comfortable and soft. A big improvement for our too firm mattress. It is a great deal. We let it air out overnight, but I really did not notice any smell. It looked ready to use right out of the package. Adding four inches to the mattress height you do need the oversized sheets.
