The colors in this rug are as follows: The red is a bright deep red, the orange is a bright orange, not rust, DEFINITELY orange! The ivory color is beige. The brown background is a deep rich dark brown. Love it! The orange is in the center of the rug and therfore is the only "burst" that is a full "burst" and not cut off. That's fine by me because the accent in my living room is orange! The "burst" are sewn into the rug, not "loose ribbons" as some folks have described. They are about a half inch higher than the brown background. So the "burst" are not something that moves around on the rug. I did vacuum my rug a little when I first put it on the floor just to see how easy or hard it would be and also to see if any of the ribbon pieces pulled out and none did. I used a small hand vac very lightly on the "burst" part of the rug but bared down a little harder on the brown background. I love the look of this rug. I decided not to put it under my coffee table because it's like an "art/picture" on the floor that I just didn't want to cover up, so I put it in the center of my living room. My ONLY issue with this beautiful rug is the STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL when I first put it down! So be prepared to either take it outside to air out for a couple of days OR have some kind of good quality odor absorber handy!. The chemical smell is so strong it made my eyes burn. Yep! It's just that strong!. Had it not been for the smell I would have rated it 5 stars! Other than that, this rug is absolutely gorgeous! I also purchased the smaller 2 x 6 runner to put in front of my bar area. Overall, I'm happy with it!
