I love the feel of these curtains - we moved into a loft apartment - the windows are huge and the sun comes in bright in the mornings. Are they truly blackout NO - but it does keep out enough sun and light to make the room fairly dark. Much darker than with just blinds. It also helps with the winter months. I would recommend, however, do not expect total blackout.
