I always loved to bake, cook and create in the kitchen. This KitchenAid Professionalever 5 Plus surpassed anything I ever considered purchasing and at what turned out to be a most reasonable price. To own something this substantial and completely useful takes my abilities to a higher level. The ease in which it mixes dough, aerates batters, creams and egg whites and performs every task from delicate to heavy is just fantastic. My breads come out looking and tasting the way I only hoped they would before I brought this mixer into my home. The color, since you asked, is a very good match for my Fisher & Paykel stainless steel appliances. Due to the weight of the machine, I keep the mixer in the corner on my counter all the time, which makes it easy to decide to whip up something special on the spur of the moment since my number one tool is right there waiting for me. I love the lift style of the bowl in comparison to the other style where the head of the mixer lifts out of the bowl. It seems to work better with the way I do things and I don't mind manipulating the attachments a bit to remove them, it just feels like such a solid connection. Some of my rec ipes for bread dough allow for kneading in the mixer and that requires a minimum of an additional five minutes or more of processing. Not once has the mixer balked at the heft of its task or heated up even one bit under the stress. Clean up is a breeze, between the stainless steel bowl, all metal mixer chassis and both stainless and coated accessories, everything wipes down or cleans up in a flash by hand. I don't recall enjoying any of my "toys" as much as I do this mixer. My husband laughs at my love of this item and I may be one who goes overboard but when you have something that does so much and does it so well, it would be silly not to share the good news so others can have the same enjoyment. I purchased mine in 2007 as a housewarming gift to myself and have not had one moment of buyer's remorse, this thing is a winner all the way. One last thing, I did finally get around to purchasing the ice cream maker accessory and I love it. For some reason the bowl stays icy long enough to process two batches of ice cream, one following the other. The secret to that is to make sure the bowl is kept in the freezer for a minimum of 24 hours before starting the process and to also chill the mixture you are going to freeze for at least four hours before starting to make something so addictive that you'll say farewell to Godiva and Ben and Jerry. My next accessory will be the food grinder/mill, I can't wait.
