When I initially received this rug, I wrote a somewhat scathing, and perhaps unfair, review of the rug...interestingly it never appeared on the site. So, now I've had it a year and I guess I will say I am satisfied, although I don't think I would recommend this to a friend. First, the good. On my moniter the colors show up pretty accurately to real life. The blue is a sky blue, there is a lovely apple green, brown, and beige. This happens to be the basic color scheme for our basement den, so that and the design is what prompted me to buy. Now that it isn't shedding as badly, it looks very nice in the room. Also, initially we had problems with the rug b/c it wouldn't lay flat...it seems quite prone to creasing, well, with time that issue is now resolved. My original criticism remains, it looks fine (now that is is laying completely flat) but doesn't feel very soft or plush in my opinion. I just wasn't astute enough to pick it up, this rug, although wool, is not specified as New Zealand wool. Based on two rugs that I purchased from Overstock, the rug that had New Zealand wool in the description is extremely plush and soft. It not only looks but also feels like a high quality and expensive rug. This "Mayflower Sky" rug on the other hand, although it looks fine, is not nearly as soft nor as thick. I measure the pile height as 1/2". Bottom line: it's adequate for our basement application and for its price. However, I will make a point of looking for New Zealand wool in the future, and look at the pile height in the description more carefully as well.
