The shoes are the lower height ankle boots which would work with a more tapered pants, compared to the taller 8" dress boots which are sometimes sold and work with the more open cuff pants. I like these because of the stretch leather panels on the outside which should add to the comfort level since the boots in this height range can rub against the part of the foot in front where it pivots when you step. Sure enough, it did rub on this boot against my foot and the leather was very stiff so the first time I wore this boot, it actually irritated my skin quite a bit, but it broke in pretty fast and the second time I wore these boots, I didn't feel it anymore. These look very sleek under a slim suit and would compliment any outside, even nice jeans, if you are so inclined. Warning, the bottoms are very slick, so if you walk on carpeted areas a lot at work, you will slip. I ended up putting Vibram soles on them.
