This is an excellent little vacuum for those who know what a hand vacuum is -- it cleans limited spaces powerfully and needs to be emptied regularly ie kept clean. The cup holder (w/ 2 filters) is literally about the size of a cup and I empty it after each individual use, so it always looks clean, and it is a small enough container to not be such a disgusting task. I bought this to keep near a litter box when I adopted 2 new cats, but realized afterward that if the women (and men) of today aren't buying tiny hand-held vacuums that are easier to clean and transport, they are missing out. I can't believe how many years I dragged around a heavy, always tumbling expensive machines (w/99% dust filters) because the higher end models over $300. Anyway, these tiny models are very loud pitched, so beware. But my$300 model is just as loud. Finally, let me say that the tiny vacuum is for convenience - it is obviously too small to be the vacuum that picks up an entire apt. It does one small room well (8x10 for ex.) Then needs emptying. BUT it fits my hoover attachments and comes with several of its own. I will say that the primary brush /head attachment is very poorly designed -- doesn't even work. I didn't care b/c I use the slanted edge head. Too bad b/c the engine is superb. Another thing to remember is the strong exhaust -- it blows into spaces (like under radiators) as you are vacuuming the floor, and so you end up having to redo areas. I realized with my big vacuum however that both the attachments never fit in those tight corners to begin with, and the less intense exhaust never moved the dust out toward the center of the room. So I have to say, this vacuum taught me a ton about cleaning.
