OK, I should have been more careful in scrutinizing the specs. It may be as wide as described, for about an inch. photo makes it look much bigger than it is (that seems to be a trend). If you like cloth purses, i suppose it's fine, but i don't. workmanship is good, but i buy this type of thing to tote stuff in,and it's too small for that. Not remotely worth the price.
