They wash and recover (when instruction for care are followed) 100%. Here's a bit of an oddity: I wear them outside to have a smoke, and this open-toed (no socks) kept my feet warm while sitting in my open airy porch when it was -4 degrees. This is even more than I had hoped for in a slipper, (especially in this price range), as I suffer from severe foot & ankle swelling, because they are fully adjustable. At 58 yrs old, I'm really pleased and impressed by the product and the company of overstock.com!
